When that decision decided the winning goal? Are you really that thick?

are you always this charming?

there's no reason to believe liverpool wouldnt have scored if they hadnt gotten the penalty, they were playing well enough at the time...

it wasnt as if arsenal were totally dominant and liverpool got one chance against the run of play...

Wow. It doesn't matter if they have a chance to score again or not. The fact the penalty is the goal they won with is what makes it the decision that ruined the game.

Babel scored because they had to commit men forward due to the penalty, that's why he scored.

So, I think there's enough empirical evidence now to conclude that luck does in fact exist.

What a nonsense point. The goal was factually coming? There was no possible reason to think Liverpool wouldn't score in the remaining five minutes, dubious penalties aside?

Classic biased commentary there.

Just watched the replay, Trevor Francis uttering the words:

"Alonso needed to foul Walcott and take a yellow card to stop the attack.".

Is that how it has become against Arsenal? Sad, really. Even worse for people who would like to deny the bias.

-AC

I am trying to forget about this Matchday. My, my. Mother effin' Ballack. What a goal.

Predictions for tomorrow night?

Man Utd win, Barca win.

-AC

I'm not even going to mention United tomorrow. Almost everyone I have discussed this with has already written Roma out anyway. Somewhat dampens my enthusiasm.

Barca - Schalke, on the other hand, I would considering placing a 5 euro bet on.

This is the kind of place where Man Utd being clinical is where it's going to count.

Barca have a tendancy to be mug, but I can't see them losing an away goal lead to Schalke.

-AC

I am still not worried enough to call my bookie. Either way, United for the win.

You pushing for a Barca victory, Al?

What, in the general tournament?

I'd prefer it. If not them, then Man Utd. Cos as much as I hate to say it, and as much as they have the muggest fans of all time, they seem to be the only team who can have matches against Liverpool and cancel out Liverpool's constant jiffluck.

-AC

"Sad how Liverpool fans and Irish plastics are happy for them to be a cup team. After spending 156 million quid on players, a team with Liverpool's 'rich history' to not win or challenge the premier league in the time it takes a baby to legally be able to have a pint is laughable. Next year will be a different kettle of fish: Spurs under Ramos, City under Sven, Moyes improving Everton, Villa's yound players getting better reckon the scousers will struggle.".

Everyone's had enough of these should-be-mid-table mugs.

-AC

Same cycle, different season.

Unless I actually see some results, they can keep their mouths shut. I mean, I see where they are coming from. Other than what they have to say about Liverpool FC, all it's ever gonna be is "Next year is going to be different" every season.

They're a shit team, in the sense that they play horrible football.

They have the worst kind of fans who claim anything Benitez does is tactics.

-AC

I was chatting with my best friend (die hard Liverpool FC supporter) and I love him like a brother but when he spits this type of talk to me, I always end up scratching my head.

"its all about tactics...Rafa totally ****ed up Wenger's tactics"

i don't think it ruined the game, when the penalty had come so close to the end, liverpool were (imo) the better team for long periods, and looked more likely to score anyways...

was it a penalty? after seeing the replay, no, it wasnt, but the initial view looked like toure bundled him over, so i can see why he gave it... not saying he should have, and its another reason why more technology should be incorporated into football...

factually? barker

i didnt say they would score, i said they could...

liverpool before the penalty were the dominant side, as they had been for the majority of the second half, imo... so yes, them being the dominant side, means they would be more likely to score...

to be honest, sure the penalty shouldnt have been, but on the night i thought liverpool were the better team, and they deserved to win... did the penalty change things? sure. did it come against the run of play? no, imo. liverpool were the dominant side for the majority of the second half, and had more chances than arsenal... even liam brady (who is as pro arsenal a pundit as you can get) admitted arsenal severely ran out of steam after hyypia's goal...

united (fingers crossed), and probably barca...

They want it to all be for a reason so they don't have to agree that the team they support won the Champions League by dodgy decision and a penalty shoot out last time, and got where they are THIS time, but dodgy decisions.

They make their decision to play for fourth or fifth in the league, qualify for the tournament and then luck their way through it.

Lots of compelling points in that link.

You said there's no reason to believe they wouldn't.

When Gerrard admits they got played and passed off the pitch, you know Liverpool got outplayed. He played shit because he wasn't allowed to play, and besides Torres goal, what did he do?

What do you mean it didn't come against the run of play? Torres' goal came against the run of play, Liverpool were on the back foot all the rest while Arsenal pressed, eventually ending up with Walcott taking Liverpool on, and Adebayor finishing. What happened next? Yeah, exactly.

They didn't run out of steam, hence why Babel dived.

nobody is saying liverpool aren't a jammy shower of bast*rds...

they played well tonight, though, sure, they got a bit of luck with the penalty, but i thought they were the better side anyways...

as opposed to arsenal, who rarely looked like scoring, imo...

first of all, its gerrard. second, sure, arsenal did, but how much of it did they do after hyypia's goal?

What do you mean it didn't come against the run of play? Torres' goal came against the run of play, Liverpool were on the back foot all the rest while Arsenal pressed, eventually ending up with Walcott taking Liverpool on, and Adebayor finishing. What happened next? Yeah, exactly.

obviously we disagree, then... 😬

How? Because they won? Their best players were silent, they did most of the passing in their own half when Arsenal weren't bombing at them.

They were doing through, didn't have to score. Hence why Liverpool, in fear of Arsenal shutting up shop, got a cheating penalty.

A lot, actually.

i see liverpool easily disposed of arsenal.

for liverpools last goal, babel shrugged off fabregas like he was a little boy.

what a suprise arsene whinger moaning again.

poor arsenal 😆
