Great signing.

So, the best most amazing team in the world ever are bottling it? Yes, yes they are.

Funny how they're lauded for all this amazing football, when basically they're a highly efficient team with a really prolific player (if the opponents aren't all that). Barcelona showed them as they are- efficient bullies whose domestic reputation affords them about 20 points a year.

Said it before, and will again- Carrick is a mediocre, backwards-passing piece of crap. £18 million for that idiot, and Eboue gets stick despite costing 1/36th of that.

They're cowld...like ice.
Can't take the touch, cos they isn't very nice.
When he's left...alone etc.

Answer is Ballack.

i do love how these people although paid incredible amounts of money still find excuses in every little thing. go back 20 years they would have loved to have played at that time, earlier visit to the pub to fit more driking in.

Spurs have signed Luka Modric.

Sweet lord, that's lovely. Can he play left-wing or does he usually play more central?

The ball his Carrick's knee, didn't it?

He can play left wing, but he'll be playing central, won't he? Not like there's a surfeit of ability there.

Well tbh we havent got much ability anywhere in our midfield.

Well, if they can get another couple of good ones, they'll be looking a lot better.

I STILL want Spurs to steal Poulsen.. imo if we get him our midfield issue will be sorted for the first team, but the squad will still be weak. Bale can play LM with Gilberto behind, but they can both play either, which is perfect for Ramos' style.

But we need to offload some midfielders and it could be a difficult decision because they're all so different in style but all equally as average. I think we should be starting next season with 5 central midfielders, but when you consider the ones we already have it's difficult to decide who has to go;
Jenas, Zokora, O'Hara, Boateng, Huddlestone, Tainio. Tainio is definately out of the picture, but beyond him there could be an argument for keeping all of them (even though I hate Jenas).

Our squad still needs heavy investment though, we can't afford to keep buying average players, we need to improve on the first team rather than keep adding to the squad now.

Players like Boateng, Taarabt, O'Hara, Kaboul need to be given at least another season imo, they're young and all good prospects... Boateng was terrible this season but everyone knows he has the ability, you don't win young player of the year in ANY league by being a bad player. Our centre of defence possibly needs one more addition, with Dawson making way. Our fullback options look healthy now even with Chimbonda expected to leave; Gunter has played well whenever he's come on, Gilberto is settling well after a rocky start, Hutton has been a quality buy, plus we have Bale set to return and the youngster Berchiche waiting in the wings and the lesser-seen Ekotto (who I think is a good player).

The left midfield issue isn't as big anymore, with Modric capable of filling in, Gilberto and Bale both adept at playing there and Malbranque as a final option. (plus Danny Rose who's doing brilliantly for the reserves and O'Hara capable of playing there).

Robinson will be leaving in the summer, and Cerny as well... what I'm wondering though is, will we be buying 2 GK's or giving Alnwick his chance as 2nd choice?

If Berbatov leaves (i'm not fussed either way anymore), we're set to get a huge transfer fee for him... so we can spend it on another striker and use what's left to improve other areas of the team.

This transfer window is set to be the most important in Spurs recent history, with the right buys we can propel ourselves back up to the "best of the rest" stature again, possibly closing the gap on the big-4 as well (I don't see us getting 4th, unless Liverpool slip up) but if we buy poorly again... we could find ourselves in a real mess.

3-1 win isn't even satisfying, it seriously could have (And should have) been 8-1, or something.

I don't rate Bale as a left-back anyway. I'd definitely play him on the left of midfield.

In my opinion, Berbatov leaving isn't a big deal. He's a player who finishes off a polished side, like Rooney when he left Everton. The money served them better.

It would have been wise not to offload one of the best strikers in the league, though.

Also, Adebayor, best player in the world, unstoppable, etc etc. Or is that only for Ronaldo?

Generally, I agree, but I definitely wanna keep Huddlestone; that boy can pass! Also, Jenas is worth keeping.

I haven't seen much of Poulsen, but Toulalan I like. If we couldn't get him, then I'd like someone in the Essien-esque mould. Please.

However, I really don't want Berbatov to go. He's just pure class. Also, I'd like to see Taarabt given a chance on the left, like he was during the last pre-season.

He's a bit of a thug, but then, all the best DM's are... But he can play football as well.

This is why Ronaldo is overrated. He still hasn't had any impact, beaten any men.

Will he?

-AC

i disagree. just because he isnt as good as messi at taking people on, doesnyt mean he is overated, because he isnt.

he played very well tonight and was extremely effective. played it simple and beat a few men when he had the chance.

messi was the most dangerous player for barcelona tonight but didnt do enough to make a big impact either. he did what he does best, take people on but failed on the final product.

Ronaldo did f*ck all tonight. He didn't beat anyone because they were having none of his stepovers.

He wasn't playing against Bolton, I don't think he realised that. He tried stepovers, Puyol mugged him. He tried it against Abidal, got picked off. He was so ineffective to the point that he had to not try beating men, and just crossing a ball in whenever he had the chance.

Of course, the commentators were grasping for any excuse.

Didn't he promise he'd make Barca pay for his penalty miss? Didn't see it happen myself. I just saw him kept out of the game.

For one, Barca should have had a penalty, considering Messi made a mockery of their defense and then Carrick started laying on the ball. Eto'o was obstructed by Brown early on.

Man Utd had the better chances, but none of it involved, or was due to, Ronaldo. In fact, Scholes only got a shot because Ronaldo couldn't beat his man and Zambrotta (I think) kicked the ball away from him.

Well, at least Liverpool ain't winning it. Rotated their way out of everything like Steven Hawking with a flat tyre.
