He also was solid throughout last year in the Carling Cup and FA. I don't think he will be pushing him in the beginning of the season, but by the end he will be breathing down Almunia's neck.

he didnt play very well in the games i saw him in.

IMO, he was solid in the majority of the games he played last year. The major problem during the CC was his defense, which was dismal.

friendlies are no reflection of form.

Liverpool lost 5:1 against Mainz last season for example.

and then they went on to be shit in the league. i think thats a fair reflection.

they also lost to a team they beat 8-1. man, liverpool sucks.

That's what bothers me.

If they win the league, it'll be "Told you so, told you we'd do it.". Overlooking the fact that Liverpool fans say that every season, having done so since the early 90s.

"Shit" in the league would be the bottom half, and not qualifying never mind getting some where in the CL.

Its not only liverpool fans who dream of winning the league me thinks🙂

Well nobody in the big three "dreams" of it. Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd have all had emphatic, multiple wins in the time that Liverpool have been Liverpool.

I mean, when you break it down, what have Liverpool actually done of any worth recently? The two cup victories they like to wave at Arsenal fans are the Champions League and the F.A. Cup.

The F.A. Cup they nearly lost to West Ham United, and won on penalties, the Champions League (Their most coveted victory in the past two decades) they were going to lose, but for Gerrard's factual dive earning a penalty that ended up taking it to penalties (And I don't think anyone can credibly argue it not being a dive, considering how many YouTube vids there are).

That's why people call them "shit". They've been reduced to a side whose advances are not without high controversy at ALL times, and the only times they've won anything have been arguably lucky and undeserved. F.A. Cup, ok, fine. Fought back and won against West Ham United on penalties. Champions League was aided by cheating, and a previous phantom goal.

I don't actually think Liverpool are the shittest team in the league, I just think they're a mid-table quality side at best, who, without their luck (Which it is, but typically a Liverpool fan won't admit that, in spite of FACT), wouldn't have the grace of being mentioned.

The only thing I fear about Liverpool winning the league, if ever? It's not that they will have beaten the team I support, that's minor to me compared to the fact that the two decades of Liverpool's stagnant mediocrity and cowardice will be conveniently forgotten.

Arsenal have never been truly mediocre, they've always played amazing football. They are, year in and year out, the one team everyone agrees they've enjoyed watching for a lot of it.

I think I actually saw Ya Krunk'd Floo even utter it reluctantly, below his Spurs of course.

I dislike Liverpool's fans more than I dislike the team. That's what this post is designed to illustrate, cos I don't wish to come off like a needless hater.

Although personally, I do hope they flop, because this constant praise of Torres being better than Adebayor is baffling and factually baseless.

Liverpool fans get on my nerves and I'm one of them. Well, I'm not sure you could really call me a fan, anymore; I feel let down by the team, year after year. I'm also becoming more and more annoyed with the rose tinted glasses that other fans all seem to posses.

I agree wit you G.P............

Liverpool are getting ridiculously outplayed.

They have every reason to be thankful the Liege strikers aren't good. Liverpool have been outclassed in midfield, Torres/Keane might as well have stayed at home.

It is pre-season, I'll give 'em that, but they've played a number of games.

Liege are just owning this.

-AC

Liege could and should have won that game by 3 or even 4 goals. Liverpool were really poor.

i havent even heard of that team and they're outplaying them?

thats pretty bad, a big team like liverpool shouldnt be getting outplayed in the midfield preseason or not.

let's not exagerate ... Liege really isn't that good! They had luck winning the title anyway, first one in 24 or 25 years. They had luck getting the title and the strikers are really that bad anyway. Liverpool can easily play man on man in the defence and let the extra defender move up to the midfield.... the strikers aren't good enough to lose their defender.

Ok, so then how does that explain Liverpool barely escaping with a 0-0 draw?

Torres is the best striker ever, if Liverpool fans have anything to say, and he never had a shot on target.

-AC

to me? because they simply didn't bother to try
if Liverpool wanted, they could squash Liege in an instant... they were just too lazy/cocky to do that

It wasn't lazy, they didn't have control of the game and just labouriously miss lots of chances.

They got whooped. Liege DOMINATED midfield, their players were taking on multiple Liverpool players at a time. At one point Carragher and Arbeloa had someone trapped by the corner flag and he still got out. That's not lazy, that's shit.

Had they possessed a good penalty taker, Liverpool would be heading into this second leg a goal down.

-AC

Oh and not forgetting the goal that never was, because Reina was reaching behind him to scoop that out of the goal.
That was over the line, no hmm's, no guessing, it was over.
