Has anyone seen that goal Yoann Gourcuff scored last week? He used to play at Milan I think.

C.Ronaldo world footballer

FIFA World Player of the Year is:-- C. Ronaldo.

he beat off competition from 2007 winner Kaka (Brazil), Lionel Messi (Argentina), Fernando Torres (Spain) and Xavi (Spain).

What the hells Torres doing there, even though I´m a Liverpool fan I don´t think he belongs there. Frank Ribery should be though.

Xavi shouldn't be in there either. He didn't have a great season with Barca and Senna and Iniesta were better at Euro 2008.

because ronaldo genuinly did have a better season than messi last year.

I know that don't I, mate. That what the whole post is talking about.

Yeah. He's on loan from them. Arsenal were interested both past pre-seasons.

I've always found Xavi to be overrated, though good. A Carrick who is actually good.

Torres' name shouldn't even be getting mentioned in that. What did he do? Score the same amount of goals as Adebayor, mostly at home, and have a shit Euros although scoring in the final.

Who actually selects these players, these old codgers who have never kicked a ball who run FIFA or what?

all international managers and captains get a vote, and they cant vote for someone from their own country

i think xavi was great at the euros. he is one of those players who you dont notice to much because he rarely pulls out anything great. he just keeps it simple but has the knack of controling the game

Yeh he was great at the Euros, but World player of the year has to be effective consistently I suppose. C.Ronaldo didn´t do much in the Euro´s accept the odd step over followed by the normal loss of the ball.

This in a way shows how important the emphasis on team play is, Spain won the Cup not because of any individual effort, but harmony, balance and team football.

does anyone think IF this kaka deal happens it may be disaterous for football in general(and i dont mean man city winning stuff..etc)

Not really. Unless they literally keep buying everyone just because they have silly money- sabotaging deals and stuff. It won't affect the prices other teams pay as far as I can see.

Then again, Man Utd went into debt to compete with Chelsea financially, so it'll be funny when they buy David Silva for £160 million or something.

The Kaka deal is funny, but I don't seeing a devout son of a god leaving a historical citadel like Milano for a nouveau riche crap-pit like Manchester. Football players like to see the sun too, don't they?

So, the mighty Spurs seem to be on the verge of getting Wilson Palacios! Nice. I like that man's style, and he adds some snarl to the middle of the park. It seems that Arry is going for a 4-4-2, but I liked the look of our 4-4-1-1; we just needed a bit of readjustment to get it working. How's he going to fit in little old Modric now? The lad was just beginning to warm-up to the Premier League.

In other news, what do all the arseholes think of Arsene's plan to acquire Arseshavin for Arsesoneandall? Don't you think he was just a 2-game pony who completely blew his load and is now all spent?

arsenal seem to have too many arshavin-type players already, should buy a defender if anything

Is it true that Bellamy is being offered around £100,000 a week at spurs to make him their highest earner-and he is guaranteed to be their highest earner for the length of his contract-should he sign? Meaning that if someone else in the squad gets an improved contract and their wages overtake Bellamy's, his own pay automatically increases. I heard this 2nd hand from a mate who reckons his friend is an the know about what happens at Tottenham. If this is true, along with the Kaka /Man City bussiness, this means football is out of control.

rumour has it that bellamy is refusing to play and has cleaned out his locker as he is desperate to move

Yep I do, buying him would be a mistake, he´s not that young anymore as well, 28 I think.

As for Kaka, I heard a discussion on this with some "experts" on the radio. He´s a very well educated logical thinking person. And other things than money may play a role, the birth of his son "Lucas Celico Leite" might be a reason, being brought up in England learning English as a second/first language might be one reason.

If it was me I´d stay where the sun is.

Yes, I also think Arshavin is shit, and Palacios is amazing. For a similar price, too. Palacios who was brought over and rejected by Arsenal last season.

Good old Spurs.
