It starts in June, and I believe that USA's first game (Agaisnt England) is on the 12th.
It is in South Africa this year and the sound is a droning not really heard out of Africa... The crowd seem to play with noisy things instead of watching the game.
You should check it out though, the Yanks have a good shot at making it out of the group stages having drawn Algeria and Slovenia (both beatable).
Brazil, Neo, as I always have been.

Anyone who doesn't support their own country in a world cup is a dickhead. Period.(Unless their country isn't in it)
Based on what?
Why am I am I a dickhead for preferring a different 11 football players to the 11 that play for England? You're suggesting I have to support them because we share the same birthplace? You hopefully realise the inherent ridiculousness of that statement.
My parents conceived me here and I was born. It wasn't a flight of destiny and prophecy. I happened to be born in East London, England.
There's absolutely nothing about this land that I have been born on that I am undeniably tied to. It's just land and they're just football players. They're 11 men from England playing football.
What logical (Yes, logical, not pretend argument) basis do you have for saying I am a dickhead for not supporting England?
It's a game of football, it's not a war. Everyone is factually free to support who they desire and whatever team brings them the most joy to watch.
The England team, its supporters (In general) and the pundits who fellate them would have given me a natural dislike even if they played well. The last thing I want to see if John Terry lift the World Cup. There isn't a more undeserving group of players.
In fact, I have already ordered my "Anyone but England in South Africa 2010" shirt from that Scottish retailer who was selling them. I bet that burns you, but you've gotta love freedom of choice.

Where is it?
And regarding this monstrous beehive, is that specific only to the upcoming Cup's location?
Your going to have to watch the USA V England match at least, the US has a good team and could cause an upset again like in 1950 when they beat England 1:0 in the group stage of that world cup.
In the 8 games these teams have played England has won 6 times & lost only twice, scoring 33 goals & conceded 8 goals.
As for "dirty plays" apart from the odd mistimed tackle maybe both teams play clean football.

What I said was a statement. I wasn't opening it up for discussion. If you want to support a team that is not "your" country, you're a dickhead. That's it. No more.
I normally support England at the start of these tournaments, but not in a "England should win no matter how" fanatical sort of way. Depending on how the tournament progresses an attachment for certain teams grow depending on how they play, the character of the team etc, this normally ends up being a kamikaze attacking underdog team.
And in general I have a "the best team should win" sort of viewpoint.
There are certain teams I want to loose, France because they got to the tournament by default changing the rules (Platini?) so they wouldn´t face a seeded team in the play offs and Henrys handball trick, plus they are crap since Zidane left. Greece because they play negative football, and Italy because of the strategic nature of the way they play, ie acting, diving ,tactical fouls etc

Because you're a tool who can't substantiate his claims and you know that the second you try debating it, you'll get proven wrong AGAIN.
Just stop talking, it'll save you bother.
You're the one looking petty and silly, not me.

Such a ****ing disgrace. Just when I forgot about it, you had to bring it up.
If France is going to get knocked out this year, I just hope it isn't an ownage the likes of EURO 08 against the Netherlands. Is some semblance of their previous dominance too much to ask?

It´ll be the old 0:0 or 1:1 draws in that group methinks, France will get through, Platini will see to that but I hope they get annihilated in the KO round.
There's nothing wrong with not supporting your country. Just cos you are born in England doesn't mean you have to be patriotic. I used to think it mattered but I've learned that the world is round and you don't have to follow who society says you should.
I am assuming AC never followed football as a kid and his family and friends wasn't into football, so therefore he wasn't bought up on a specific team. im guessing he got into football at around the age of 17-18 and then just followed the team he liked the most. Correct me if im wrong AC!
I will be following England because i don't know any better. I grew up with it, and plus its fun cheering someone on. I will love for them to win and be gutted if they lose but in the end i won't be losing any sleep over it!
Anyway the final will be spain and brazil
England will get to the semi's for once though!

Aye, I feel the same ways sometimes. I'll watch as England goes on and of course I'm supporting them but you can't help but love it when that one team comes from no where and starts toppling down the giants. Thats what I love about football so much, anything and everything can happen.

Considering it was following debates with me that you realised you don't HAVE to be patriotic, I'm surprised you're asking me.
Fine, though. You're wrong, there, corrected. I suspect you're joking anyway.

You clearly do know better, though. You proved so in your previous quote.
You are raised to believe lots of things that you should eventually grow out of.
My over-arching point is, and the reason Spooney is someone with the mentality we don't need or want in fans, is this:
For wearing a Brazil shirt I am (And have been) subjected to verbal abuse from some pedestrians. Some people have even sped up as I'm crossing the road while wearing it.
Is this warranted behaviour simply because I support a different 11 men? Football brings people together. It's not about getting anyone killed. Spooney's mentality breeds the mentality that I'm doing something wrong, and I'm not.

Wow that is sad, especially as some people (me) wear certain jerseys because they look good. And Brazil has one of the nicest being very colorful jerseys.
Jamaica was one of my favorites a shame they arn´t taking part this time, but might get a jersey anyway.🙂
