Boring? Defensive? It's obvious that you haven't been seeing his teams playing in the last 10 years. Just because he adapted Inter's strategy to his players or the opponent it doesn't mean he is a defensive coach... I mean, did Chelsea was a defensive team? Or Porto? I don't think think so. And Inter did beat Barça 3-1 in Giuseppe Meazza as far as I remember.

What are you talking about? Chelsea were renowned for being boring when he there.
Porto weren't an attacking team. They were balanced, but not the kind of attacking team that would please Madrid fans.

Liverpool will fade into obscurity unless the owners sell. If they do and someone injects cash into the club, then they will have a chance. And if they get lucky and no player leaves, which is unlikely.

But that's my point, isn't it? Porto and Chelsea weren't defensive teams, and yes, of course they are balanced teams, every single great team have to be balanced, a team can't be all about attack, nothing on defense. But my point remains, he isn't a defensive coach.

As far as goes to the Liverpool, honestly, right now the team has 2 world class players, Torres and Gerard (especially Torres), and if they go away the next season will be pretty bad.

Yep they need a manager who will be aloud to build something up from the grass roots, it will take a few years but a good foundation is the key to success imo.

No. Chelsea was boring. As were Inter. He has not shown attacking flair since Porto, and even there he had Porto sit back more than once.

Your right Chelsea were boring under Mourinho, but still effective.

There´s no way he can get Real to play that way.

Looks like Rafa Benitez might be heading to Inter.

As for Liverpools next manager:

"Kenny Dalglish is to lead the search for Rafael Benítez's successor as Liverpool manager, with Roy Hodgson and Martin O'Neill among the frontrunners."

Martin O'Neill... now I can actually see him being a fantastic manager especially for Liverpool. I've always liked the way O'Neill runs his shop, what a perfect pick and I honestly think he is going to get it.

What bothers me is that Torres, Mascherano, and Stevie Gerrard (:'() Are still looking for a way out... But a new manager like O'Neill might juts convince the lads to stick around. I know we aren't doing well money wise but some fresh legs into the club and a fresh mind behind the match could indeed bring us at least some silverware.

I know you lot aren't exactly scousers, or even really take interest into Liverpool but I thought I'd share this piece with you because it deals with Rafa heading to Inter

;D

just wondered what your best england team is over the past 25 years

I´d choose this lot, its the mixture which counts not the individual players imo. Gone for a flat back 4 with Ashley Cole darting forward, Beckham bringing in the crosses from the right, Gazza and Scholes for a bit of magic in midfield, Bobby Charlton with pace and cutting in on his right foot to welly the ball into the goal. Ian Wright up front using his skill and pace to wreck havok and Lineker to put the icing on any attack´s cake. Oop s just noticed you said 25 years, oh well🙂

................................Banks

Neville...........Adams.........Bobby Moore..........Ashle Cole

ian wright over shearer? dunno about that one!

All about the right mix.

You can´t have two penalty area finishers in one team, and Lineker was the better imo. Ian Wright was fast, technically gifted, both footed and scored many goals from distance. Probably the most techically gifted striker England have ever had.

Ok he did´t score many goals for England but I think that was due to the constellation of the team and delivery, not totally his fault.

shearer and lineker would work in my team because i put rooney just behind them as the play-maker. But i see your point aswell

Rooney as a play maker, good idea. He´s better off in that sort of role imo as apposed to being a lone striker.

steven gerrard should be in the best 11 for England

Instead of who and in what position?

No way Gerrard. He's the best player of Liverpool, okay, not England though.

Well after the world cup I think Gerrard was one of the best England players.

Interesting to see how he and Joe Cole will mesh at liverpool.

I was amazed to see Raul playing for Schalke 04, a German club. He scored a scorcher against Bayern Munich in some meaningless cup final.

Gerard and Cole would be interesting.

Maybe Liverpool can get, like 4th or something.

That's not happening. They've fallen behind Tottenham and Man City. Their luck ran out and Gerrard's only going to get older and less useful.

I don't see Arsenal doing well this season, so there's a possible overtake there.

Chelsea
Man U
Tottenham
Man City
Liverpool
Arsenal

That's 5th at least, and the teams could go up or down depending on injuries or whatever.
