Aberdeen strolling happily to a win thanks to a superb goal from big Noel Whelan only for the shoddiest defending that it has been my misfortune to witness to balls it up. Hibs and Hearts both won and so the hibbees sneak back into 3rd. Booooooooooooooo!
Only a defeat for the Huns in the League Cup final tomorrow can provide me with any solace this weekend.
I love watching Football and I know how the game is played, but what im somewhat confused about is all these tournments and how leagues are run.
1) Champions league games are basically the best teams and who twins are the best team in Europe, right?
2) Whats the FA Cup? and is the UEFA Cup all about the lower tier teams?
3) In the Premier League, what is the best team? The team that wins Champions League, UEFA Cup, FA Cup or the team with the best record in the end?
4) Are Transfers basically a team buying a player from another team? Does the actually player get paid the transfer fee or do they sign contacts that is different than the transfer fee?
5) If a player's contract is up, does the player have free reign over what team they play for, or is team that has him have a choice of what team he plays for?
Thats all I can think of. Im confused because of how both countries do things differently. In NHL for example, the only and main prize is the Stanley Cup which teams go through the playoffs to get, so the regular season does mean as much. Also, transfers or what we call trades works differently on where the team trades a player to a different team for another player. All this makes me confused.
