When they update the bios at the official website perhaps the will shed some light on the matter.
My opinion is that Windu beat him fair and square. Windu had him beat before Anakin showed up.
Sure maybe he knew Anakin was coming but I dont think he anticipated loosing his saber in the duel.
Yoda on the other hand clearly overpowered Sidious.
if anakin wasnt so weak minded, palpitine would have been a cripy critter. Seriously though, palpitine diddnt sense that ankin would come to his aid and join the darkside. You know how i know that? because that would be predicitng the future jedi and sith cannot predict the future. So in the end, palpitine got his ass beat down.
I still belive Palpatine knew Anakin would come... or at least relied on him showing up...
He speaks to Anakin when he's in the Council Chambers telling him "If the Jedi destroy me any chance of saving her will be lost"... and don't tell me that Anakin's just remembering what Palpatine has already said, Palpatine never said anything like that to him before... he's speaking through the Force.
My opinion is that Palpatine did in fact get his ass handed to him but he knew Anakin would show up as he did at just the right time...
or maybe he was faking the whole time... I dunno.

I have a date to go on because...I have a life outside of Star Wars. (No this is not a low blow to you guys...this is more like a sad but true statement because the Star Wars universe is sooo friggin' awesome.)

k, first off, anakin was not weak. he was in love, and wanted to save those close to him. how is that weak? he was totally selfless, ready to give up everything he had been taught and even give up the bond with Obi-Wan in order to save Padme. it takes a lot to do that.
anyway, on to the topic of discussion.
of course palpatine was weaker. he was Dark. the Dark path is EASY. it's easy to give in, to be greedy. it's EXTREMELY HARD to be selfless and not use anger when fighting. what else is there to say?

Anakin was infact very weak. The jedi is in the midst of genocide. Mace windu has the situation by the balls, about to slay the emperor and make everything better. Full of greed, and fear Anakin gives into the Darkside...yes, Ankin was very grossly weak.

I call it dedication to the one he loves. I mean afterall, Padme is his wife, and he was having visions of her dying just as he had of his mother dying.
Ask yourselves this, if you knew your wife was going to die, but could stop it, wouldnt you do anything in your power to do so? I know I would. Even if that means turning on all my friends.
Anakin was by no means weak. Emperor took advantage of Anakins situation. And Anakin was willing to save his wife at all costs.
On Windu, when they started fighting, there was a part where Sids could've kill mace. Remember when sid has his lightsaber pointed directly at mace, and mace had his hands up. To me, thats when I think sids couldve beaten him. The funny thing is that had sids not broken the window, sids wouldnt have lost his lightsaber. Mace couldv'e still kicked it out of his hands, but it would of just hit the window and land on the floor, where sids could have retrieved it. Come to think of it, I wonder if he broke the window on purpose...

Sidious fake with windu and don't forget Sidious let Yoda in the floor and has the chance to kill him and did not kill him. The fight was close, but all the chances were to Sidious. If Yoda feels that he can win, why to escape/??? He can't defeat Sidious and he was hurt by the lightning and the fall. Sidious is the king. Awesome the siths are.

This has already been said, but Yoda left because troopers were coming and his lightsaber was destroyed. He still managed to match Sidious his best, what am I saying he threw it back in his face.
And Sidious was indeed faking some parts during his fight with Mace, but he still lost the fight. Mace owned him in the lightsaber duel, he kicked Sidious his lightsaber away. Kicked. He was in complete control the entire fight. At the end however I agree Sidious was faking how weak he was, he still couldn't break threw Mace his lightsaber however and Mace was moving closer to him. Mace would have killed him eventually.
Well hmm since I can't really say anything absolutely true I can at least state my own opinion:
Mace is a better duelist than Palpatine (and Yoda for that matter) .... he could hve beat him in the long run, but I belive Palps faked his defeat when hje felt Anakin so thaqt he woiuld join him on the dark side....well it worked.....supporting my opinion on that would be that Palpatine, although saying he was too weak was still able to kill Mace easily after Anakins attack (come on he is a jedi master although not as powerful as Palpatine he shouldn't lose to someone that has no energy left)
Now for Yoda....I belive that yoda is both Superior to Palpatine in use of the force as well as as a duelist....but palpatine fought really good and used his better standing to fight yoda back...(my guess is that Yoda felt that the Clone Troopers arriving, which would have put Palps to easily win...which wouldn't be good since he had to share his knowledge aboot Qui Gon ..... well and after all it worked out just fine)...oh yeah and without Sabre he would have gotten a serious problem to beat Palpy
Palp probably faked the "Oh i'm so weak" part, but he did not fake his loss from Mace. And I have serious doubts about his ability to kill Mace if Anakin would not have stopped him. I think Palp just started faking his loss then because h knew that if he did not he would die even it would take a little longer.
