Yes thats what I am trying to say...Mace is probably the best duelist of all Jedi...he would have beat him...just not that fast...: Sidious counted on Anakin I belive (if not he would probably tried an escape or something)

This is the first time in my life that the losers are the better. Sidious is superior to both Yoda and Mace. He faked with Mace and was playing and laughing with Yoda. He can finish Yoda after the first lightning attack and he let Yoda Recuperate. He can kill him in that first instant and the fight would only last 10 seconds. After that they were pretty well matched in the saber duel, but after Sidious start with his tricks he has he was in the lead. He was too sure of his win that he relaxed too much. If you think that you gonna loose or you are having a very difficult time in a fight you end it at the first chance. Sidious beat Yoda with his left hand, for me is very sad that Yoda Fails. But it fails and he did all that he can, and that was insufficient. Sidious rocks.

He does...I love Sidious he is just not as good a duelist as mace and in not as strong as Yoda

I think Lucas intended for Mace to beat Sidious.

That would make his going out with a bang special.

Thats apparently what SLJ said in an interview that he agreed with Lucas that he would die in the movie, but that he would like it if he got to beat a Sith Lord in the process and that Lucas agreed with it.

Of course this is hear say and I have never seen the interview myself but it was mentioned in another thread..

Well in any way ...it is very obvious that Mace is the better duelist....and it looks like Mace won so Samuel got his coolness left

sid knew anakin was coming so he let mace win because he never actually knew when anakin ws coming so when anakin got there it looked like the jedi were attacking a unarmed helpless man which helped with anakins turning

'Then why did he lose his lightsaber? Then why did he throw all his lightning at Mace and still didn't kill him? He possibly faked his weakness to make sure Anakin would have helped him, he could have held on longer but he would have died anyway.

I saw Yoda throw Sids best back at him with EASE.....thats what I saw

Yoda didnt lose, he failed becuase he had lost his lightsaber that he would'nt be able to defend againts the clone troopers that came in!

Noooooo! I think you guys should listen to Bardock42. I also think that this can only be settled by the mand himself...George Lucas...I will see if I can get an inteview with him...(I wish.) Only the story teller himself could tell us for sure.

Here is the facts:

1.We know Mace is a bad ass lightsaber fighter.

but is he better than Sids or rather did he really bet Sidious?

2. We know Yoda is the best with the force.

But did Yoda give up because Sidious won or did he give up because there were larger things as Stake?

3. Sidious needed Anakin to help him conquer the Galaxy to rule it.

but could Sidious really have won that duel with Mace? Was Sidious just faking his loss for Anakin?....or did Mace really lay the ass wup on Sidious and he found a way out?

All these questions have good arguments for and against. I believe it is a stalemate and in fact, the only way to settle these questions is to get the questions answered by George Lucas. (I know saying all of his name is close to taking God's name in vain but to get my point fully across, I felt that it was necessary.)

Lucas made his statements in the movie...he SHOWED Mace beating Sids in saber duel correct..yes...he SHOWED Yoda take sids best force attack and easily throw it back at him correct...yes....so everything else is just sithluvin folk being sid fanboys...hahahahaha

1.Mace is nothing special back to the basics like Vader and Luke in the 4, 5, and 6

2.Yoda is great with the whole moving stuff and blocking electricity and jumping...ahh your right he is the best but, he still got beat because of sids electricity and force pushes with those seat like things.

3.He was faking we have discused this over a million times!

man he was faking cause he felt anakin coming but he could arrive whenever so he did bad the whole fight so if anakin walked in he wouldnt look like he's killing the jedi!
