Can we merge threads and polls? somehow to like get rid of a few same type threads..this one could go with several created today...and probably a couple more tommorow...I say let the mods merge em all that deal with this and decide on a new poll with several different options Ive gotten and seen the results from this one to convince me most people agree and sith lovers will cling to the wild fantasys till the sun goes down...lol...So anyone seen a Mod do that before?....Or they just lock em all
Yeah, the debate over Sidious and Yoda is an interesting one. Prior to the movie, it sounded as though Yoda got totally tooled on by Sidious. He did get zapped once by lightning and then he got up and sent Sidious flying head over heals across the room. Keep in mind that Sidious also tried to escape before Yoda blocked his escape. Secondly, Yoda was clearly on the defensive, but when up close, he did absorb Sidious' lighting and send him flying back with it. Yoda clearly did not win the battle, but I also didn't come away thinking that he got "beaten" as had been sort of predicted in threads. He did fail in his mission to kill Sidious, so perhaps in this sense he was defeated, but I didn't get the feeling that Yoda was soundly beaten either.
maybe we shouldnt merge.... this thread is just basically to say yoda has more force power and mace has better saber skills than Palps or not if your a sith lover relying on imagination of what they didnt show but what could have been etc...(few Sids side arguements in here are truly movie footage only) based from what the movie showed.........alot of the other threads being created are based alot on guesswork and imagination ......scratch that thought i had about merging this thread.......

It's not a question of winning but understanding. You understand an event which is far different from the others. Still many believe like you it was the fight which Sidious lost at Mace; but some like me saw on the contrary a marvelous trick which is why Anakin choose Sidious instead of Mace Windu. In the End not only Sidious win but Anakin was more than ever in the path of the dark side.
If Sidious would have want to kill Mace without Anakin it would have happen anyway.

Sidious in this fight owned Yoda much of the time, has more chance to kill or defeat Yoda than otherwise. The lightning at first struck him very hard and Sidious if he would have liked, would have killed him easily while he was on the floor stunned. Saber skill was pretty equal and Sidious force power proved to be a level up with his multiple pods thrown at the same time although Yoda was quite impressive to immobilize one and returning it to Sidious.

Now Sidious winning has one really big flaw, one that I think everybody is ignoring, or at least the pro Sidious camp and please somebody answer this, I don't care about the rest of the post just debate this.
If Sidious was so powerful that he could kill Mace easily in second without his lightsaber then why did he look like a pussy wielding it? Why was his fighting style as basic as pie? And why the hell would he let Mace get the chances he did. At the end Mace could have just stabbed forward and have killed Sidious.
Sidious did throw everything he had at Mace. He used both hands and threw all the lightning he had, Mace managed to block it in time even though Sids attacks on point blank range. Mace deflected it back at him. Now here I do agree that Sidious was overreacting, but not because he was weak however but because he knew that he needed to persuade Anakin and this was the best way to do it. He would have lost otherwise, but giving Anakin more time maybe to persuade Mace maybe to accept it would not have been good. If people have to make reactions on instinct they always choose for themselves first. Padmé was more important to Anakin then the Jedi Order and especially more important then Mace, Palpatine realised this and used Anakin to do what he wanted.
However Mace still deflected the lightning he still hold on against the attack and he still defeated Palpatine ina lightsaber duel. Yoda who matched Palpatine in force power if he wasn't stronger still wanted a lightsaber duel to decide who would win or not. Against Dooku he still used his lightsaber to fight. Force attacks alone simply do not cut it against a powerful Jedi.
And on other thing, Mace was second under Yoda.. Sidious ran away as soon as he saw Yoda coming for him, or at least when he saw Yoda stand back up. Why would he run from the first if he could beat the second no problem at all in a heartbeat by just using the force? Would he not be able to withstand Yoda then? Why try to run? Why constantly during the entire fight try to stay away from Yoda and run? Why? If he was so damn powerful and could beat Mace so easily he would have no reason for it, would he?

Well said, but yoda didn't loose the battle. It was basically a stalemate. To be honest, Sith Fans and Jedi Fans wouldn't want to see the most powerful masters on either side lose to one another.... Lucas couldn't do it.
Yoda and the Emperor as Lucas said are equal in power.

Um, I saw the movie and I didn't really see that at all. It was a clear stalemate... Besides, Yoda had equal chance to off Palpatine if he wished. Watch the scene again.

Yeah, Yoda had the same chance to kill Palpatine after he knocked his ass over the chair with the force push....
Sith fans, please the argument is stale. Yoda and Sidious battle was awesome. Probably my most favorite in the move, too bad it wasn't longer. It's clear that Lucas made a stalemate of this battle, but Yoda did look like he was on top even if by a margin.

You have to remember that Sidious was so powerful that he put a dark cloud over the jedi so they could no longer see the dark side. If he knew that Anakin was in trouble on the lava planet (name?) then why would he not know where Anakin was and what he was thinking during the Mace battle? As far as his light saber skills being lame, thats just part of the acting... The dude just didnt train as much as everyone else so his skillz sucked. ALSO remember that it took ALL the jedi to defeat Exar Kun... Now I dont think that Palp was or is as powerful as Exar Kun but its obvious that Sith Lords are more powerful than Jedi... Im not a sith lover but history speaks truth.

Only thats EU and not really a good way to say what you want, besides Exar and Palps are completly different but thats for EU.
And one thing I don't care how powerful you are, you do not fake a loss when the weapon of the opponent can kill you in a second. The risk for Palpatine is simply to great, one single mistake and he would be dead.
And the difference between sensing Anakin during or after a fight is easy he wasn't in a fight. Yoda sensed a ton of things going on when he wasn't fighting, do you think he was bussy figuring out what happend to others when he was fighting Palpatine? Its a distraction and wether you are acting or really losing doesn't matter in this matter. In a fight were you can die in a second is something you keep all your attention, so that argument is just incredibly wrong.
TRS this isnt an EU thread not bashing ya....just stating I made this thread to "discuss" with the sith lovers of what the movie showed us....so Exar doesnt count though if any sith were to turn me it would have to be him....lol....But you cant count Exar or Eu in this so I agree with his saber skillz sucked cause he didnt train as much...he might have done better if he had more time to train...hadnt thought about that before....Mace probably trained alot in process of training other Jedi...but anyway I agree once again with Fishy....when in the midst of a fight your not thinking of anything much other than the hair on your ass not getting sindged by a lightsaber.....
