Palpatine and Mace Windu Debate [Merged]

here´s my summary, be free to add any thing I miss.

Ligh Saber:- Yoda is better with the light saber, not suprising seeing as it is a Jedi Weapon, not a sith´s. (ROTJ:-..Sidious.." a light saber, the weapon of a jedi" or somet like that.)

Cunning:- Sidious by a mile, look at how many people he mislead, could con a heard of sheep into attacking a T rex nest.

Force:- Lighting + Absorb, throwing stuff arround cancel each other out. Choking, never saw sidious do this. maybe Yoda and sidious had more weapons in their arsenal who knows.

Physical strength:- I´d say Sidious seeing as he isn´t a short arse like yoda.

I just slowed Astrofan's clip down to extreme slow motion, and there is NO question that Yoda attacks Sidious with his own lightning and it doesn't just explode. Yoda begins to move his hands, and form the energy into a bit of a ball (moreso a disc). He then very, very, very, I stress very, clearly begins to move forward, PUSHING the ball/disc towards Sidious, at which point the energy explodes IN SIDIOUS' DIRECTION. Slow it down, watch it frame by frame. This is absolutely clear.

Yea, Mace is pretty awesome, but Yoda is just the man! I believe Yoda is the most powerful Jedi Master period, even more powerful than Lord Vador. Yoda could've beaten Sidious if he wanted to, but Yoda is a Jedi not Sith, even though Sidious didn't stand down at all and fought Yoda, Yoda could've won hands down if he wanted too but I'm glad he didn't because one of the best scenes in all of Star Wars is when Vador pics up Sidious and throws him down that hole.

If they were fighting on a desert plain with absolutely nothing around, I believe Yoda could have beaten Sidious. But they weren't. Sidious used his environment to his advantage. He had the 'high ground'. 🙄

Yoda stopped one in mid-air and threw it back up the hill at Sidious. That is power. Just for the record I know there was no hill involved.

Yoda struggled at first deflecting the force lighting. Then turned his head with a look of disgust then you see a look of shock on Sidious' face.

The look on Sidious' face in that scene tells it all.

Palpatine -

Force Powers: I'd give him 9.5. I doubt there's anyone with a perfect 10, but Yoda and Palpatine are both the best of their respective Orders. Palpatine, according to Wikipedia, Palpatine has these powers:

-Force Lightning
-Battle Meditation
-Standard Force Powers
-All Dark Side Powers
-Forsight (he is EXTREMELY Powerful here)

Lightsabre Skills: I've read on this thread that the production team of Star Wars gives Palpatine and Yoda equal on the ninth level of of lightsabre skill. He took out THREE Jedi MASTERS in THREE seconds.

Intelligence: This is the definate skill that puts Palpatine above Yoda, above Mace, above ALL of the Jedi. He manipulated them ALL and they only found out when it was too late to stop him. I personally don't care what you say. Yoda was the smartest Jedi. But Palpatine WAS WAY ahead of him intellectually.

Strength: Palpatine is an old man. Obviously he is very coordinated in hand to hand combat, but he is still an OLD man. Most of the Jedi (except Yoda) could outlift him and beat him in arm-wrestling match.

Palpatine is not smarter than Yoda imo.

The darkside clouds everything. Sidous used that power to take over the Republic. It had nothing to do with his intellect.

Great arguments! I'd say mace beat Palp because, Sam Jackson told Lucas, I'll do next movie as long as i dont have cheap Boba death, so when Lucas writes ROTS he makes Sam kick Sidious butt, but wait here comes the equalizer! there goes the hand and bam! you got a gloating , laughing Sith,
Sith cant help but laugh, gloat and taunt when they are at the brink of being victorious!

What you see his clearly energy of lightning in Yoda hands, then he somehow beginning to transfert it very slowly toward Sidious. It's not lightning though, i agree with you, a sort of disk of energy resulting from concentrated lightning.

The way i see this, is Sidious at first hit him hard with lightning, Yoda try to stop it, his face show pain; he did stop it. Then he return fire at Sidious, he feel it and it explode in their face.

Sidious could kill Yoda if he is struck by lightning without blocking with his hands though. We can clearly see this at the beginning of the duel. One second of lightning and Yoda crashed in the wall to fall unconscious on the ground. Now imagine Yoda being hit by lightning during 30 seconds or more.

But if Sidious had difficulty to kill Yoda with lightning, Yoda has nothing good in forcepowers to kill Sidious either. Still Sidious has better chance to kill Yoda with strong offensive forcepowers than defensive ones.

Also Sidious is young compare to Yoda and the fact that he managed to battle Yoda to end has a draw in combat(though a win in the chain of events) is only possible with the Dark Side. Thus yes, the Dark Side is stronger but it always depend on the guy who is using it and the ennemy(ies) who is facing him.

Take for example one of Yoda race or any other races who live longer than humans. This person with 300, 400, 500 years of age spend on the dark side will be extremely powerful as a Sith Lord. I wonder such a being facing Yoda instead of Sidious in that duel. 🙄

well I am not so sure I believe Lucas said that Palpatine is much older than he looks but that could be some other source. I know Ian said it, but given some of the things he's said I don't trust him.

nah I'm sorry but yoda was the most powerful force user, and a hell of a duelist... i think he could of beat any sith out there, he didnt loose any of his battle but he didnt win either, he only fled from the emperor because hed lost his saber, of corse if he fought him some where else he would of won... he had to flee because every1 in the republic wanted him ded, there was armies lukin 4 him... also take a look at his age, imagine him in his prime he would of killed sidious in an instant!

Id say he showed power in the Yoda duel just nowhere near enough to overpower Yoda...fact is he did try to run away from Yoda when he felt Yodas power....he knew he was not force powerful enough to take him after he got a taste! He got his ass kicked by Mace but no force power comparison going on there....sith lovers can assume all they want....that he was baiting mace etc...but what the movie showed is Mace saberwhipping Palps and Yoda with little effort taking Sids best attack and throwing it right back at him! The reason this thread will not die as of yet is the sith lovers REFUSE to admit defeat! I named this thread the way I did because the movie CLEARLY showed palps was inferior to Maces saber technique(skill) and inferior to Yodas force power....the rest is all assumptions! But I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to sithlovers make excuses and guesses to try and defend their hero...LOL Thanks ya stubborn sith luvin knotheads...LOL....nah jus kiddin your not ALL knotheads...lol...anyways see ya Queeqs drinks on him as usual!

And Palps isn't even that cool of a Sith anyway. I can't figure out why so many people are backing him up when they know the evidence in the movie DOESN'T back up their opinions of the Sith.

The fact is, Siths are strong yes, but Jedi's ARE stronger. Think about it. Darth Maul lost to a Jedi Padawan. Dooku lost to a Jedi, who at the time, lets call him a dark Jedi. Then, Obi wan beat the dark Jedi who beat Dooku. Another Sith is overpowered by a Jedi. Then, Mace Windu kicked the living Shit out of the Sith Lord. I don't give a shit how many people say he was baiting Anakin. The movie doesn't support that. Palps tried his best, and got ROCKED by a Jedi. And lastly, Yoda did beat palps, I don't care what anyone says. If palps didn't have the entire republic on his side, I'm quite sure Yoda would have just hunted him down like the useless dog he is and finished it. Yoda IS the most powerful force in the universe hands down. But even he can't beat an army. So he fled, but he won. So again, Sith LOSES to Jedi.

Face it Sith lovers, the Jedi's are OWNING the Sith.

And for anyone who is going to come back and say that Siths have beat Jedi's too. Yes true, but none of them were in their prime fighting and losing. There are thousands of Jedi's and not all of them are good. We are talking about fully trained and ready to fight Jedi's OWNING siths. And siths don't fight until they are fully trained. How sad...
