Well, that could be true, since power and strength are two different things... Even if he's not as strong or fast, the sheer variety of powers may requires more energy than Supes power set.

Hmm... Thinking about starting a Superman vs Daxamite thread. Daxamites were called more powerful than Supes for years too, and I think there's the feats to support it, at least going by Legion of Super Heroes post crisis stories.
I mean, Pocket Universe Superboy was blatently above Superman, and Mon El was about on his level in the Legion. And in general, Daxamites were still in "pre crisis mode" while Supes was dumbed down by Byrne.

Supes actually beat an eclipsed version.
But in terms of feats, they were still flying between galaxies and such, back when Supes was depowered. I dunno, maybe the Legion of Super Heroes writer didn't get the company memo about depowering them.. 😉

Not really, considering MM wasn't in top form.
The monster who was mind screwing him called The Ray their most powerful, so power doesn't mean strength either. I saw "power" as "power battery", the way they often used the term.
Starbreaker was looking for power sources to suck dry when he called MM that, and the monster controlling MM wanted to absorb Rays powers and escape his prison..

I'm not saying Bloodwynd was J'onn in top form, I'm merely saying that the idea of Bloodwynd being more powerful than Superman at the time was proven completely wrong in DoS.

in a no pis environment MM could pull of some very decent defensive maneuvers that will pretty much render him un-hittable, that coupled with his "almost as strong as superman" stats should give him a decent chance of gaining wins.

In a no PIS environment, Superman could also use T-Vo or sing J'onn out of existence.
Getting down to the nitty-gritty though, based on how they're consistently portrayed, it's pretty clear Superman is superior, and would garner the majority of wins.
I agree J'onn should get at least some though.
