But how could they have known? Right and wrong came about with the knowledge of good and evil, the realisation of choice that came with the fruit, the ability to decide to do right or wrong. As you said a child has to be taught to do right, sometimes discipline has to be used. But Adam and Eve could not have had that, could they? I had always thought that before the eating of the fruit that they were clean slates, effectively without fear of the consequences of a wrong act, as they didn't know what one was.
It reminds me of the old social experiment were a British scientist took a tribesman from deep in the Amazon into the outside world. Now, he had never had experience with our laws, society, concepts. Being let walk down the street he felt hungry, and took an apple from a bow outside a store. To us that is theft, but he couldn't know that, as he had no comprehension of money, or such a manner of ownership, or the concept of crime for eating when hungry. How could he be punished when he DIDN'T know wrong in this case?
And also why, oh why, did God put the tree's down to begin with? I mean, apparently there was no evil in the world, but God put down the means for it to exist. And also, being all knowing he had to have known that Adam and Eve would partake of the fruit, and that the Snake was involved, so why was he still mad? Especially as it was pretty much his doing. And if the Snake was Satan, why were all Snakes punished, it had nothing to do with them...
And finally, why did sin become a part of us? Why did God see fit that every person after the garden of Eden would suffer the sins of the father all the way back to Adam, we didn't eat the fruit, or anything else, why are we touched with the Original sins?
