Thanks, I'd like to see that. You wouldn't happen to know of a time a bullet or two bounced off him, would you?

It's all in the Aquaman respect thread

I got 3 questions.
1. Whats a jobber?
2. How much can someone at peak human strength do/lift?
3. What determines whether someone has superhuman strength?

1. Jobbing is a term that originates in modern pro-wrestling. It's when a superior fighter or character loses a bout to make another person look good. Like Firelord losing to Spiderman. dur Or Wolverine beating half his opponents. 😛

That last part is only half a joke, Wolverine has a massive jobber aura. Example: Wolverine stabbing Thanos when he had the IG, is Thanos jobbing, and massive PIS (Plot induced stupidity.) Or...Apocalypse losing to a weakened Magneto in Age of Apocalypse. It's jobbing&PIS because Apocalypse forgot he can heal from being torn apart, and because Magneto shouldn't have been able to affect him in that way in the first place.

2. Peak Human strength is considered to be around 800lbs lifting at peak effort, give or take. Of course, peak human is subjective, and some people who are described as 'peak human' have lifting feats that are almost superhuman. Example: a rather infamous scan of Captain America working out. In it, he is benching a barbell that says 1100 lbs on an electronic counter. Now, either each end weighed 1100lbs, (in which case he was benching 2200!! 😱 ) or the whole thing weighed 1100lbs. Either way, it's over Peak human. Same with Batman and others.

3. If you can consistently lift more than 1 or 2 tons, you're superhuman. Wolverine with his adamantium skeleton is considered just barely superhuman because he can lift 1000lbs.

Aquaman's more like class 60-70, with a few feats that go into Class 100. Like the City block feat Mungi mentioned: http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/848/aquamanliftscitystreet026vd.jpg

In most cases bullets have penetrated Aquaman's skin. Though in the past 10 years or so he's been solidly increasing in overall power and i can't really remember him being shot in a good while. All i can remember is this moment, which is a little vague; http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/299/aquamantakesmachinegunfire4db.jpg

Yeah, but from an earlier time where he's lost his powers and has to act through powerful objects and whatnot. Why he's such an ass remains to be seen (though i'm still enjoying him alot).

I'll go along with that, but if we're going to define human as what people in the real world can do world records are probably a good place to look. World record bench press is just over half a ton http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bench_press The record for the clean and jerk is also just over a half ton. I'd say that peak human would be someone who comes close to world record feats in multiple areas of fitness, say running and lifting, etc.

Nearly impossible to get a straight answer or even a serious discussion around here. Also, too many people give their personal favorite characters way too much credit. Especially when it comes to Batman and Wolverine.

It's almost as frustrating as the inconcistency in comics. One writer has Aquaman getting knocked out from a normal guy hitting him from behind with vase. Another writer has him lifting an entire freakin' city block. It's all so stupid.

But, I'm addicted to comics, so I have to live with that stupidity.

This message board, however, is an entirely different matter.

Later, retards.

Anyone replying to this thinking I'll see it will be wasting their time...but...you're all experts at wasting you're whole lives, so there's no stopping you.

Agreed, a 'peak human' is someone that can match or beat pretty much every record simultaneously. Someone who has peak human strength, on the other hand, can match or beat only the one record.

However, the likes of Captain America (considered to be the definitive peak human) have actually DOUBLED many of the records, as far as strength and speed goes.

Peak human durability seems to be pretty high though. Those NEO hunters who went after Cecelia reyes were all peak human, yet they could really take a beating. Wolverine put everything he had into beating their leader "Domina" and was only able to phase her after like 10 punches to the face.

I was watching JLU, and there was this one Hero who was looking to kill Luthor and destroyed the entire JLA line up, he's golden and they mentioned him as android, anyone got an idea who he is?
