Comic Book Questions

During WWII why did Captain America and Bucky go around undercover in a platoon as Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes? Surely this just restricted how useful they were? Instead of having to cover their tracks and make excuses all the time, and be limited in scope to where the platoon was, wouldn't it have been better for the US military to just use them as super-soldiers (or assassin, in the case of retconned Bucky) and deploy them as needed where needed? And why really have the undercover disguises at all? And how did Bucky's bionic arm mutate when he turned into the Bucky-Hulk?

Starlord Suit Questions

Does any one have a clue as to what the jacket Starlord is wearing is called? I've seen those before I think. I just don't know what it's called.

Not sure I understand the question.

As far as I recall this suit was never given a name in the comic and I don't believe there is a suit like this.... But it resembles an old school Paratroopers with modification.

those black falcon/hawk guys from wonder woman comics wear them.
it's like a world war II pilot type deal i think.

Yo.

Does anyone know from which comic is this image?

^ It's definitely Captain Britain in the first panel...

It's from the last page/last issue of the 4-issue Excalibur mini released in 2001 (some people refer to it as Excalibur - Otherworld):

And if you're curious: aside from the single page you posted, Kang isn't shown or mentioned at all during that series.

Thanks, I remembered the image but never really knew where it came from.

I have a few questions

first, if darkseid used his omega beams to kill batman in FC #6..
http://img194.imageshack.us/i/26070648.jpg/
http://img844.imageshack.us/i/24344589.jpg/

then how the hell was he show alive in the stone age in the next issue? how is he alive in his new series that takes place during different points in time?

second, does this page mean that the new gods of the 5th world will look the same as they did before?

He used the Omega Sanction, which sends his soul throughout time but when he died he got reincarnated in the stone age.

Darkseid didn't use the omega beams on Batman. He used the omega sanction.

The omega sanction causes the being it strikes to be reborn countless times, with each life being more tragic and hopeless than the last until their very soul breaks:

That should answer your first question.

No. That panel was meant as nothing but a tribute to Jack Kirby and the former New Gods... The Gods of the 5th world will/do look much different than their 4th World counterparts. In fact, something many people don't know is that the shaded figures standing in front of Highfather, Barda, Lightray, etc. in that scan are supposedly new designs for them based on Morrison's Seven Soldiers series -- but who knows if that will pan out?

Further proof that the Gods of the 5th World will/do look different than before can be demonstrated by simply looking at Metron and the Black Racer in FC. Additionally, the 'Super Young Team' (ie. these guys):

Were officially recognized as the new embodiment of the Forever People in FC #7, when Nix used the word "Taaru" and summoned them against Mandrakk. They also drive around in a levitating vehicle dubbed the 'Wonder Wagon' (symbolic of the 'Super-Cycle' the Forever People rocked.)

---

On a separate note, FC (the last issue in particular) had several, easily missable, tributes/homages.

I guess this is a difficult question to anwer, but what kind of accent do you think Spider-Woman (Jessica) would have? She was born in London, but mainly grew up in Europe, first with her parents, later with European Hydra agents, then alone. Then she moved back to London before moving to the US.

It's just out of curiosity because I don't think I've ever seen any other character say much about her background or accent.
