Hmmmmm.....Maybe he just said he could see Superboy's soul while he was really scanning his brain to see if he was gullible enough to believe that..........Superman needs less of the conveniently vague powers that just pop up when needed.........and a mask.....but more improtantly, the powers thing.

Supes may be able to see "souls" (though he's actually just seeing the bioelectric field generated by most living beings. Even Static Shock can do that), but he can't manipulate "souls".
He has no defense against Bobby inhabitting his bodily fluids.
And given that the Sentinels couldn't register Bobby's bio signature when he was in mist form, there's no evidence that Bobby even gives off a variant frequency when in mist form.
I think this is a damn good fight and I actually had to think about it for a while. Now I have to say that theoritically Iceman could kill Superman. It has been shown that the "energy" [thermal or otherwise] in superman's cell can be removed by other means and by other villians. So, I don't see why Bobby couldn't drain all of the energy from Superman, thereby killing him like any other human.
However, there are some problems.
First: Given the enormous amount of energy in Superman's cells I think it would take days, months or even years to drain him competely
Second: I'm not sure Bobby has enough experience or stamina to even accomplish any real attack on Superman. Unlike, say Magneto, Bobby hasn't really pushed his power to its full potential
Lastly: Bobby will never even see Superman. Remember that Bobby has essentially human reaction times, and Superman can fly at near lightspeed at least. At most Bobby would only see a blur and never be able to attack him (unless he stands there and fights slow like he did to Doomsday 🙁 ).
So, its hard for this to end in more than a stalemate. Superman can fly around the planet at near light speed and use heat vision to evaporate all of the water vapor on the planet and then send the water vapor into space
two points:
1) Superman would NEVER do that.....there would be no more earth as we know it...ice age would happen
2) Superman would never know about the mist form...unless this "soul" thing works on people with no one brain thing (mist form his concouisness is spread out...)
now lightspeed I havent gotten around yet....but let me think about....
Balir is right, Superman wouldnt evaporate the earths water, since that would kinda kill eveyrone, and it doesnt really matter how fast he moves around the earth since most of the planet is water, bobby has him surrounded unless Superman retreats to space, in which case, wouldnt Iceman win if he forces Superman to retreat?

Not really. People are trying to fight for Bobby here by A - an unproven weakness, not listed or ever shown for Supes, and B - trickery that Iceman will somehow fool Supes.
I could just as easily say Supes flies out in just out of the atmosphere, waits for bobby to reforms and faster than light speed grabs him and leaves him in space.

who says he has to reform? he can teleport all the way back on the ground and then reform.....

Nope, not at all. Supes is fast enough to put Bobby is space where he'd pretty much be in shock, and helplessly floating.
There still isn't any proof that Supes would be vulnerable to anything bobby can do.

But wait....lets just say Superman takes Bobby into space......then what?
It wont kill Bobby....hes ice.....you cant kill ice by making it cold..... while in space...Bobby can hitch a ride back to earth in the water inside Superman.....and wait to take Superman down anytime he wants to.

Who said Supes was trying to kill Bobby? It's battlefield removal.
The only reason Supes would fight him was if he was endangering someone.
With Supes being faster than light, bobby isn't hitching a ride back on anyone.
He's simply stuck. 🙂
...and lets face it, if both Supes and Iceman were bloodlusted. Supes would win fairly easily.
