hysterical are they f*cking serious?

i wonder if it was one of them that sent this into postsecrets

Wow. This is so unbelievably wrong I cannot begin to describe it. All those rules, especially the pointless ones...I would be scared to death if I was made to attend a camp with rules like these. Though I would encourage counseling for anyone having relationship problems, I would never suggest a camp like this.

Sounds like someone needs his or her power fix...

the moral inventory is what cracks me up the most...

I'm gonna join

I started thinking about this when, in another thread, I read that some Christians believe that there are strict rules and regulations one must follow in order to be saved. These go above the basic "don't kill, don't rape, etc." things (though one doesn't have to follow these to be saved, either), such as no dancing, no watching movies, no drinking, no long hair on men, and more.

This reminds me a bit of something that Paul wrote. You see, at one point he was teaching these Greeks about Christ and they were happy and eager to convert to Christianity. Then a group of traditionalist Jews came along and were like, "Whoa, there--you know, you aren't saved unless you are circumcised. So, uh, find a doctor and get cutting." And these people did do so, even though they were old.

Ouch.

What happened was that these rules clouded the true message of God. The insistence on rigorous, unnecessary "laws" to be saved sidetracked God's teachings and really hurt their image. This made Paul quite angry.

His response? He said he wished that these Jewish traditionalists would "go the whole way" and sever their genitals from their body. (That's a nice way of putting it.)

Angels -- Humans -- Beasts.

That's the "celestial order" (ooh, mystical) of things. Angels have no bodies and do not partake in the pleasures of the flesh--such as sex. Beasts, on the other hand, have no self-control; they do as they will without inhibitions. Some churches teach that one must deprive oneself of any physical pleasure. In essence, they are trying to make people as angels, which is not as God intended.

I guess what I'm trying to say is this: Christians, don't get hung up on all sorts of technicalities and extreme legalism.

Goodnight.

FeceMan: 1.
Scary camp: 0.

What the hell.

Where is the outrage, the indignance, the anti-Christian outcry to which I have accustomed myself?

For shame, GDF. I expected more of you.

We are just open minded....the christians, or satanists or whatever they are can do whatever they want as long as they don't sacrifice me to their "god" or "Jebus"

more deprogrammnig camps. The people that run these things or advocate these things should be blugeoned with a rusty pipe.

This is ****ed up....I don't even have enough words to say what I think of this.

That's quite disgraceful, it really is about time that these religious nutcases realise than not all people actually want to share their beliefs.

You belief in a way of "life" (if you can call it that) others don't. Deal with it.

I'm sorry to any christians.

Not actually sorry if I've offended you, just sorry that you're actually a christian.

Don't worry, I'm quite used to you being an ass nowadays. And don't worry, the feeling is mutual, and I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to be sorry when you die.

However, that isn't really the point of this thread.

Something occurred to me over dinner: it's a damn North Korea at the camp. That's what it is, a mini-North Korea. It's brainwashing at its finest--no individual thought, no outside contact, beyond-strict rules and regulations...

"Any temptations, fantasies, or dreams are to be presented to one¹s staff worker only"

haha, imagine that "Mr Parker, i had a fantasy about boning the lunch lady with a salami"

"16. Total silence time at home begins at 9:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. Refuge clients may use this time for resting, but are encouraged to make a habit of using it for a nightly quiet time with God"

haha, "wheres bob" he's with god now

"18. Refuge clients are allowed a one-time 15-minute maximum closed bathroom door time for shower/grooming purposes. The only other closed-door alone time allowed is for using the restroom."

oh, i'm sorry, privacy isn't part of our faith.

"19. Refuge clients must keep their bedroom doors open at all times, day or night"

yeah, we like to look at you while you sleep

"9. Say "I love you _____" after each person is finished relating"

haha, what a load of shit...oh yeah "i love you"

"Places of Honor for Women:

Respect for women may be shown by offering them first priority in a number of ways:

1. Please invite women (not just LIA clients) to be the first in line to eat.

2. Encourage women to accept the more comfortable seats in a room. Men should consider offering a woman their chair when there are none left in the room."

yeah, cos we all love equal rights and everyone being treated the same.

This is utterly disgusting.. if ever sent there my first order of business would be to kick the living shit out of any random person thereby breaking the 'no violence' rule & getting sent home

Wow. That's crazy.

I'm gunna sign myself up... I have a problem... 😛

Let's see what they make of me, being British, and how they can help me.

WTF?? I can't beileve this!

Honestly, I would like to observe this 'camp' and write a summary of it. To reveal such...evil in the guise of good would do me well, for things make me ill.

EDIT: I checked out their web page and personal testimonies. I can agree with things like pornography being bad and some other stuff...but there is a reason there are so few testimonies when (I would assume) a number of people attend this camp.

what is the again?
hitler youth camp?

sounds like fun

OK, I walked the dog and had time to think this over.

The goal of the camp is to 'detox' people from their sexual addictions. We live in a world where sex reigns and it is easy to obtain instant gratification for our lusts. In order to cleanse the mind, the camp strives to remove as much temptation as possible and prevent situations in which one could give in to one's lust (i.e., masturbation).

In doing this, plus the counseling sessions, the students slowly heal from their wounds, allowing them to break free from their addictions. The strictness (and con-stricting nature of the rules) is to help the people take back control over their lives. Going cold turkey is the means the camp utilizes to do so.

I'm less angry now that I thought about it that way.

Also, don't try and tell me that sexual addictions don't exist. They do, and they are just as powerful as any other addiction out there (minus the withdrawal signs, of course). This is especially true when one can get one's 'fix' easily and for free.

No, as they aren't teaching hatred and prejudice.
