It was a nice change from the ultramoody take-themselves-too-seriously-sometimes comic book films, which seem to be the only ones these days.

You mean like cartoon-looking Hulk and the mega hit Power Rang--err I mean Spider-man? I thought Batman was the change because all the other big comic movies are are making a mockery of the comics rather than simply opperating the way they were written. Even X-men which is more serious from the comics poke fun by joking about whether or not Wolvy would rather where yellow tights. Batman Begins was filmed like the comics which were simply better comics to begin with so you could almost even assume that the movie will be better if filmed to the comic's standards. I'm not saying BB is better than FF, but that is because I have not seen FF. Unfortunately I will be seeing it and I assume it will be a giant flaming piece of crap compared to BB.

yes, so movies like spiderman suit their material...

Not exactly, I do recall the grandma saving Spidy's butt at one point against Doc Octopus. Overall, Spider-man was filmed like the comics, but the spider-man comics in general aren't as good as the Batman ones.

i'd agree with you, but again thats only opinion...

though i believe it to be true that not all comics could be successfully and faithfully adapted in a similar format as batman... x-men, fantastic four and so on...

I really didn't think that Spidey was as well done as BB. It was sort of card board to me. I really don't know why. I think in the end (I'm assuming that thias is not a spoiler as everyone has seen spiderman) when SM gets pissed and throws GG accross the room was super lame writing. I hoped it would take more time to look at SM develop. It did a decent job, but... I felt it lacked. And MJ should have been hotter.
X-men was the same. That was the biggest problem. They both were decent movies, but under the names, they were lesser. Wolverine is not badass enough, he didn't know wicked kung-fu, he just had 'bub' added to one line and a kinda growly voice from time to time. The actor was good though...
Anyway... I think BB was also really good cause they took the money Marvel had used on special effects and made a good movie- then inserted the flares. I felt, upon leaving the theatre, almost like I feel when I finish reading the final chapter of an arc, which is what I want. The ator was well done, might I add.

Lord of Dreams has made.............some good points 😕 I must think deeply upon this 😕

i was referring to spiderman 2... sorry... 😮

spiderman 1 was ok, but spidey 2 was great imo...

bb was better though...

all i was saying is that not every superhero can be done in the same vein as batman begins...

could you imagine a dark and moody flash movie? it'd suck.

Exactly...

on a side note I read in a wizard book they plan to make the Flash light hearted like the Spidey movies...which is logical

now Aquaman I'd lean toward dark and moody...none of that "using aquatic telepathy Aquaman summons a whale to his aid"

Spiderman enjoyed more critical success in general. I mean, it's a movie everyone can get into.

BB for me...I almost fell asleep during the first hour. My friends who have never picked up a comic in their life didn't really enjoy the movie at all.

I mean, when the movie finally picked up it picked up and was fun.

I'm still not going to kiss BB's ass like everyone else though. Seriously, posters on these boards are calling BB one of the "best 10 movies of the last decade" which is greatly overhyping it. It was a good/decent Batman flick. And just because it's Batman, and everyone is a Batman fan, they go crazy like it's the second coming of Jesus.

BB brought nothing new to the table at all. There were no fresh ideas or innovations. Spiderman revolutionized comic movies. You can't say that BB, X-men, or any other comic movies right now arn't riding on the coat tails of Spiderman's success.

welcome to the Batman Begin Bandwagon...I enjoyed it too I'd give it a A-

que?

I enjoyed some of it; but I enjoyed watching FF more.

I'm a big Batman fan...this movie made Bruce cool so I didn't mind the near hour wait for him to suit up.

I think Michel Keaton made a cooler Bruce. Bale was more youthful and a little naive. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I mean, Batman couldn't adapt to a life of fighting crime overnight.

and keep in mind this is year old Batman..so he hasn't developed that "kickass I am the night..I am the think that strikes terror in the hearts of criminals vibe" yet he's close though..I'm guessing in his next movie..some Joker might make him act more hardcore.

I'm not a Batman fan...though I loved the movie. I think trying to compare SM2 and BB is a bit unfair, since they're wildly different styles. Personally, I liked SM2 slightly better, but I'm a Spidey fanboy so the opinion is a bit biased. Both were excellent...both provided great examples for other comic movies to try and match (unlike most earlier comic films). And I'm just happy in general...it's a great time to be a comic fanboy at the movies.

On a side note, David Goyer (Blade 3) is set to film the Flash movie, and wants Ryan Reynolds (Van Wilder) as Wally West...so it sticks with the light-hearted vein of the comics. And the production company behind BB is already in tentative talks with actors to play the Joker in upcoming Batman films. Among them, Paul Bettany (Wimbledon) and Mark Hamill (Luke freakin' Skywalker himself!...who also voiced Joker on the animated series)
