it might have been someone that voldemort didnt get on with in school when he was at hogwarts..and maybe R.A.B meant in the letter tht "wen u read this i will be dead" maybe he was talking about dying because of the potion and the inferi killed him an he becam an inferi

I think you are all forgetting one huge fact. The only people who call him "The Dark Lord" are death eaters, or former death eaters like Snape. This points right to Sirius' Brother Regulus because he was a death eater. Don't make it harder than it sounds because if it's not him there is no way you guys are going to figure it out. So just stick with him until the next book comes out.

i know that regulus sounds more logical...but what about borgin or burke, they are always possibilities...and we don't know what happened to the line of burkes, and do we know borgin's first name?

I was wondering the same thing. Like I said they are usually pretty reliable, but the fact that they won't say where they got the info kind of fishy too me. But on the other hand, they don't post things unless they are quite sure, so I am really confused.

this is really confusing..... regulus wasnt known for being the most talented wizard in the wizarding world..an how did regulus find out about the horcruxes.cos i dont think voldemort trusted him that much

it could be regulus because he was killed by voldy for betrayal so ya....and they did find a locket that no1 could open in OotP when they were cleaning #12 grimmauld.
