I kind of feel bad for J.K. cos i mean i'm sure if this is true shes like spazing out that people found out already. but then again it might be too easy and this is what she wanted people to think so theyd get thrown off. she said Regulus would be a "good guess" which means shes either kicking herself for making it so easy or laughing at everyone who thinks its true. personally i dont think shed make it that easy. 😐

Exactly. And anyway, its still not for sure, so you didnt really get spoiled.
Oh and Sartn, i was thinking the same thing. But that site that I posted never puts anything on there website unless they are pretty sure. But who else could have told them? Whoever it is is probaly in big trouble with JKR. I think its real, cause its not like that site to put something that they are nt sure about. I also don't think JKR would tell anybody, yet. I had a feeling she would reveal it before the 7th book came out, but not a couple of months after HBP.
I'd agree with all that was being said in this thret. And the hink about the lock in Grimmault place that nobody could open is a really good think!!
😱
And about daeri, if u really dont wanna know about it and you are talking about respect, yopu really should begin by respecting our right to talk about something we find interesting. And if u didnt know u have the POWER to chosee wich topic go into, or no to come into the board at all!!

He thought Voldemort would kill James and Harry. He didn't expect Lily to die for Harry.By the way, any rumors yet on how long we'll have to wait for Book 7? I pretty sure all of us have everything wrong, and Book 7 will be full of surprises we never anticipated.
i'm sorry, but r u sure you read the fifth book??, remember when harry went into the pensive on his last occlumency lesson, he saw his father being crule to snape, he also saw snape call lily a mudblood... if he had liked her he would not be calling her such a vulgur name... muchless for paying enough attention to her, to the point of falling in love for her.... your theory is just highly unlike and is pushing the limit.... besides at the time he was a deatheater, and had not joined dumbledore and we all know that death eaters only think purebloods have worth.

Like he knew that the Prophecy was smashed! So then Voldemort would have known that Regulus stolen it. Plus didn't Sirius say that Regulus wasn't bright or something like that, so how could he have done it??? Hello, THINK!!!
I agree, most of the wizards in the HP series that are of memorable skill are noted as such and nobody in the books speak of Regulus in a spectacular light. He was a henchman at best.
Nobody in the books really speaks of him at all. But, to be fair, it does say he chickened out at some of the things he was asked to do, so I imagine he wasn't that highly placed. Doesn't mean he wasn't a great wizard...
I think it's plausible that Snape loved Lily - if he knows he can't win her, and he needs to save face, he would call her a mudblood.
Arent you all taking these quotes about Regulus a bit seriously, i mean JK like plot twists whats to say that it wasnt Regulus - a brother that hated him for who he hung around with - maybe Regulus wasnt as stupid as Sirius said - Sirius may have just speaking through his hatred... Maybe Regulus was quite bright and was in Dumbledore - JK would probly be able to figure something out for the geeks to digest. And I think the idea that R.A.B is a new character is pathetic - introduce a new character this late in the series?
And for the record the Americans covers for Harry Potter are all completely crap - the British ones own!

But she wouldnt be really introducing a new character because he's dead. What else could he do? The way i see it, they find out who he is, and thats it. Or maybe he has some notes or something hiddedn to help them a little, but thats it. There is nothing else he could really do if hes dead.

Still, from a writer's stand point, I don't think this would be a good idea.
Could you imagine the gang figuring out it is somebody they have no idea about? Of course, he's dead, which kind of makes it worse, because the characters will have no interaction with him.
I think it would be better if it was a new character to still have him alive, so Harry and company could actually talk and get help from him/her. But according to the note, we have to assume the character is dead.
I can see your point, but I'm still having trouble believing that JKR will introduce a new character so late in the books. 😬
another guess

Unless...that was said just to throw someone off. This is a theory I read at another board, so I'm not going to take credit for it, but I think it's pretty interesting and kinda neat. First, the letter is kind of a code. If Voldie was to find it he would probably think, like most of us, it was written by Regulus (thus the "Dark Lord" salutation). However if good guys were to find it (like we did) then we should be able to decipher it. Here's the kicker: R.A.B is actually two people... Now, we think, that it most likely takes two people to get the horcrux. So far, I haven't heard many theories about who a second person with Regulus could have been (maybe Kreacher). Of course if the potion was different the first time, then all bets are off. Okay, here's the fun part to see how R.A.B is two people: Take your book and turn to the page with the letter from R.A.B. (my book, pg 609). Now turn it upside down and stare at the initials for a while...anybody notice anything? If you look hard and focus on the upside down B and A you might be able to see what looks like the profile of a dog! If you focus on the A and the two periods you might see a bird or raven. (Again, this is not my theory, I just wanted to share) Could it be that this was signed by Amelia Bones (the A B portion of the RAB) AND Emmeline Vance (E V when A B are upside down) and the R is just there to make the picture? The dog could represent the Hufflepuffs - Amelia Bones and the raven could represent the Ravenclaws - Emmeline Vance.
It's possible that Amelia Bones discovered information about the horcrux while at her post in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and she was a gifted witch, and hopefully she destroyed it before she was killed by Voldie himself. Emmeline could have had something of Ravenclaw that Voldie might have been interested in...
This is all speculation and I'm sure I'll get reamed for it , but I did think it was neat that I could see the dog and bird in the letters. 🙂
Edit: I know there is a hole in this because how did Voldemort know to kill them both if he hadn't see the letter or deciphered the code. I don't have the answer to that, all I can say is that Snape admitted to ratting out Vance and maybe she told about Bones for some reason. Again, hopefully the gaps will all be filled in the next book, but it's fun to speculate in the meantime and that is what this post is for.
Thanks!
