unfortuanly, you are right... Startrek ships use warp propulsion which bends the space time continum and sends them moving through space, however... starwars use hyperspace
essentailly a starwars vessal partailly transfers itself into another dimention (hyperspace) where the laws of physysics are different and ultra high speeds can be obtained
