That's all aside though, really. Wither or not you picked up on the pattern sooner or later is kind of relative I guess. The point is, literally nothing about Kubo's formula has changed. At all, in the slightest, since the beginning of the series.

Kubo's formula has changed alot since day 1. At the start it was a monster of the week story and it evolved into shounen DBZ stuff with training and power-ups and stuff. In the beginning there was a clear emphasis on banter, and character interaction as well as comedy and world building. Now its fight scene after fight scene and the goddamn Gotei 13.

And you're wrong about the tension thing. Q99's right we had no idea how retardedly unkillable characters were back then. And even then there were legitimate obstacles in the story that created actual wieght and problems for the characters. Ishida got his ass kicked like 4 times. Chad got wtfpwned. Ichigo almost died with each fight. Furthermore, characters actually acted like they were in danger, as opposed to the retarded stoic posing every ****ing character does nowadays with that same ****ing 'I know I'm going to win' face that instantly saps all drama from the scene. There was actual threat in the story.

Also we actually gave a shit about the characters back then.

If Orihime came up to anyone, no matter how wounded, I'd buy it (at least then it'd be "whether or not this one person is here is a major tension point"😉, but even that wasn't what happened for some reason.

Well, the Shinigami were planning to capture Ichigo and his buds, so them not being killed makes sense. Ichigo didn't really want to kill Ikkaku, and Renji needed to make his Heel Face Turn. Kenpachi had back up and Mayrui had his own backup plan.

It was only when Byakuya didn't kill Renji that the signs of the good guy protection was on for good. And even then, it's kinda forgivable. It pales in comparison to the arcs that follow.

Please stop throwing completely relative terms like "unlikable" my way, as if it was some kind of argument. And, furthermore, the "we didn't see this coming" act is silly, as that's also relative, I figured out the obvious tropes Kubo followed early in the story, as did many other people. It's no one's fault you didn't.

Last I checked Ichigo and the crew were all lmost dead until the Shinigami arrived. Sounds like weight and obstacles to me.

As there was a few chapters ago when Ichigo was being trolled by the Fullbringers. Now he's winning and he can be arrogant. Not the first time he's done this, he was doing all kinds of posing and cool kid speeches when he was running literal circles around Byakuya in their fight.

Why didn't she do that to grant Ichigo his powers again after he beat Aizen?

You could also ask why she didn't heal Yamamoto's arm...or heal herself right after Tsukishima stabbed her.

Personally I just think Kubo forgot...he does that on occasions.

Oh and don't forget about Hinamori's heart which was rejenerated somehow.

Orihime also decided to watch Nel fight Noitora instead of healing Ichigo to the point of fighting back...and didn't contribute to the characters being pwned by Yammy.....Just saying

Also saved the life of one of the Aizen fangirls.

Super dense reiatsu in a wound did make it harder for Orihime to heal stuff, but that's not really the case with the arm injury anyway, not as much as some of the other significantly more fatal injuries.

Rangoku got saved from missing a chunk of her torso by people who weren't even proper medics.

Unohana's supposed to be the chief medic and we can assume pretty good, but unlike Orihime how good is actually unestablished, and the one time we saw her work before she merely stabilized injuries, leading one to think that stuff like "cut in half and then left that way for quite awhile," would be too much for her (Hiyori and Hinamori even surviving long enough for Unohana to arrive was bending things).
