Soul Society had already instigated a genocide against the Quincies over this Balance in the past. I doubt they'd choke over killing people they think are not going to be of use to their Military in order to maintain a Balance that could kill an exponentially higher number of people if it was upset.
Souls killed in SS apparently are reincarnated in the Real World, so I suppose they would draw some justification from that as well in that while they are killing them, they aren't destroying them. Twisted, but meh.

Well gee, when you put it like that unprovoked mass murder sounds downright decent!

I kid, but seriously, 28,000 is met with a shrug? This afterlife man...

So while Quincies are going all Third Reich, Soul Society butchers it's lower class. Everyone's a dick 😐

Incoming Nemebro spazz is 3-2-1...

edit- What's up with this sudden balls-deeping over Halibel's three slaves? They were fodder in the previous arc; barely a match for Rangiku and what's-her-face. Why is it suddenly an upset for them to get their asses beat?

Yeah I called bullshit the first milisecond I finished reading what she said. Saying Mayuri hasn't done anything wrong is like saying Kon hasn't tried groping any women.

Ichigo is obviously of some interest to this guy. He doesn't seem to worried about him as a threat imo.

Just the opposite. Ichigo is deemed such a huge threat that he had to wait for Ichigo to be distracted in Hueco Mundo in order to consider his invasion of SS to be "ready".

That should speak to Ichigo's extreme military prowess. Ichigo also can't have his Bankai sealed. Good stuff. I like it when Ichigo is strong and NOT gimped.

Oh, okay. That makes sense, then. I was thinking about how evil it was for SS to be okay with that. Makes sense now since the Shinigami have a much more jaded and clear perception of how reality works: it's not really death, just a change in state.

The G13 have been doing this shit for who knows how many millenia. Pretty sure they were killing other people, as they have to maintain an even flow of souls between SS and the Human world.
To them it is worthwhile, as they're saving billions of lives and the very worlds they occupy.

Yeah, they aren't necessarily evil (though by our standards, they are) in that they are doing this to save everyone else, and that the people they do kill do not remain dead but move ahead in the cycle. Maintaining the Balance of Souls is their purpose.

Makes you wonder why people even bother to live in Soul Society. If I lived in one of those shitty districts I'd just kill myself and move on to the next cycle.

Who knows. Maybe the G13 don't allow suicide, or they'd kill someone in the Human world to compensate. 😐

I wouldn't mind.

Remember, Rukia and Renji started out in a poor district and rose to the top.

If a bit of me remained from this life into the next (pretend with me, here), I'd become 3rd seat in 3 years after graduating the academy.

Bankai?

HA! I'd master it before leaving the academy. 313

My zanny would be a combination of Aizen's, Yamamoto's, and Toshiro's (yes, fire and ice, baby).

estahuh

Hooray for pretending like little kids again! 😄

eh, personally I'd just do what dadudemon would, RE: Blaxicon. I'd give it a shot to see how that would turn out and if I fail, well I'll just go with your option and hope that maybe something changes when the next cycle starts for me.

damn, a cross between Aizen's, Yamamoto's, and Toshiro's zanpakuto? I'd like that kind of sword myself.

on another note, I do wonder what this new vilain has to do with the whole soul balancing situation for Mayuri to bring him up. maybe he has some sort of relation to the soul reapers.

They keep referring to him as a "special weapon" though. I mean sure Ichigo is strong but he's not stronger than Yamamoto, Shinsui, Ukitake, or perhaps Shinji and Unohana(based on informed ability). Or at least he wasn't before so unless his new powers have increased his strength that much, him being the "special weapon" to Soul Society has to be something else.

I wonder if this has to do with Ichigo being a true blood...

I think its more that Ichigo has already defeated 2 Big Bads as well as numerous powerful fighters. They probably just don't want him popping up and laying the smackdown he gave Aizen to them.

Basically they've realised he's the main character and are deliberately not fighting him because they'd lose. I like that.

I disagree, obviously. Ichigo was the strongest character in the series before Mugen. He was stronger than the Captain Commander and all the others you mentioned.

He seems to have gotten stronger with just his shinigami powers, alone, after the time skip.

Seems Ichigo is far stronger than he was before and it took the power of several captains and lieutenants to restore his power back to him. Seems obvious, imo, that Ichigo is such a powerful military asset to SS that removing just him from SS makes all the difference between decisive victory and a loss.

Special weapon, imo, refers to just that with Ichigo: he is SS's special weapon because he's so powerful.

Calm down. It was referring to the rules the Captain Commander would set or offending the rules of SS.

He is allowed to kill his subordinates (but not the subordinates of another squad). He is allowed to experiment on others: he has the endorsement of SS. In fact, his division seems to be funded quite well.

Killing the humans only got him scolded but he even turned that around to being Yamamoto's fault and oversight. So even then, he did nothing wrong. Mayuri seems bad, but he plays by the rules.

Only idiots subscribe solely to moral absolutism.

I guess it's a good thing I don't.

Yup, you do. This is why you fail.

If you think what he has done, ever, is wrong, you are a moral absolutist. 🙂

Condemning moral absolutism and in the same breath making a morally absolute statement?

Lol.

You would have been fairly correct, were you to have taken "solely" out of your accusation.

Though, do I consider kidnapping and slaughtering a race of people unto genocide for pseudo-science absolutely evil? Absolutely, that his boss allowed it is irrelevant (Though I could be remembering something wrong, IIRC the Quincies at that point were no longer hunting Hollows, so it couldn't be justified as protecting the balance). As do I consider, not merely using your subordinates without their knowledge as human bombs, but then killing one who survived without any purpose towards doing so.

It's not the 28,000 citizens killed, horrible as that is, I sort of get doing that, since Bleach has a shitty cosmology which could warrant it.
