To be fair to Kenpachi, they can't exactly steal his Bankai and he has at the moment just beaten no names(though if there are only 16 of these guys...yeah).
But I'll agree, he should at least look like he's been in a fight. As it stands, particularly juxtaposed to Byakuya's death(very careful about accepting this because Kubo could change it), it comes across as Kenpachi just being shown off. And Kenpachi is just a boring fighter. He's essentially Ichigo, sans Getsuga.
And yeah, Rukia got one shot. Rukia is not exactly Soul Society's best fighter lol.

Edit - WTF is this shiiit I read about Kenpachi being a Gary Stu? No, he's a Badass. He got his own asss whooooped by Ichigo and nearly bit the dust against Nnoitra and Foxface and Blindboy. He's only severely won his last two fights against marginal characters.
He has yet to pull that stuff off against big names.
You'd expect that from the only captain that cannot pull off a bankai but has such powerful reiatsu that he can make Ichigo sweat. He should be doing exactly what he's doing because he's the 11th division captain.
If he dies, I will be sad. No more of this 'kill all the powerful and awesome characters' that Kubo is doing. I fear that Kenpachi is going to bite the dust against the Emperor Douche. And you ****s like him for some reason. He's a generic douchy badguy. He's a real Gary Stu.

Byakuya was done. His wife is long gone, he had nothing to live for, other than to protect Rukia. On top of that his abilities are revealed and he didn't have any further potential as far as the series is concerned.
Kenpachi on the other has a lot of potential, and there are still many questions to be answered. I'd like to see him die, but I don't see it happening.

Kenpachi is going to be foddered out, but he's not going to die. He'll lose consciousness, but eventually get right back up and collect a few more Vandenreich letters while he tries to find the emperor for another round.
Then again, Kenpachi might be one of the secret weapons they've been talking about.
Well yeah he's going to lose. I don't think Kubo is that bad as to let the Big Bad be beaten by Kenpachi(blondy over there maybe but not the Big Bad). I just would rather Kenpachi be killed. They have nothing to gain from sparing him and he's honestly the biggest non-Yamamoto threat Soul Society has.
maybe. after all he doesn't have a bankai so the Vandenreich can't do anything on that front. and as for his fight with the Fullbring, well it has been nearly two years since Ichigo lost his powers so chances are Kenpachi got stronger. I'd say he wounds this Majesty guy just a bit (maybe a small cut or two) and then he gets KOed or something.
Meh, the way Kenpachi fodderizes people is just boring to me. Unlike Rakan or Guts or even Whitebeard, Kenpachi doesn't make the stomping of his opponents fun to watch.
Unohana is likely to play favorites or Orihime will show up for some reason. Though I do want a few more lieutenants dead as compensation.
If you haven't read Spirits are Forever With You, then you don't know why Zaraki is a Gary Stu character.
Zaraki's ability, i.e. his -- still unnamed -- Shikai adjusts his Reiatsu to be equal to or above the opponent's.
So he defeats Shien, Sayza's clone and the most powerful Espada who's Reiatsu is comparable to the second hollow state of Ichigo's. In fact when Shien uses Teatro de Titere to bust Kenpachi's organs he's unable to break them because they're too hard.
Then there's the 8th Kenpachi. Who's transcendent, like Aizen after the chrysalis state, blasted Zaraki with hundreds of level 90 Hadō simultaneously -- yes, his Shikai allows him to do that--, and then attempts his Bankai on him, which is cancelled out by Zaraki's monstrous Reiatsu.
But the 7th and 8th Kenpachi were all kinds of broken, but I'm not going to spoil it further. It's likely that these novels will be incorporated in the future anime, due to the Narita's reputation and Kubo's approval of the series.
