I know the Soul Reapers needed to step up their game and make a comeback to make up for their new vizard captains sucking but to see Renji so powerful, he's bored just ruined the chapter for me.

Even if she didn't understand him, it would've take a bit longer to figure out how to counter the illusion had he not said anything. It really makes one wonder why baddies think attacking in two waves is a good idea. The first wave to catch them off guard, and the second wave so the enemy can be ready for them?

well to be fair, the good guys aren't exactly fairing all that well right now anyway. it took Ichigo (who will show up eventually) and Renji and Rukia, all powered up, just to turn the tide. everyone else has just barely won their fights so far.

What is up with Mask and James? Are they creatures aware of the fourth wall who have somehow secured immortality.

I was beginning to wonder the same thing. whatever it is that's letting them regenerate like that, it's pretty damn effective.

The look of utter, existential horror on Shinji's face on page 6 perfectly sums up my feelings for this chapter.

I'm guessing James is not truly a separate being, but an extension of himself.

Though, on the flip side, he made the mistake of saying he's in his 'ultimate form.' And Renji is still no-selling him...

I remember a time when characters could win even without no-selling! Stuff like taking damage but keeping on coming...

eh those days are long past from the looks of it. but hey, who knows, maybe Kubo will surprise us on that front.

and yeah, a big mistake on Mask's part. given that Renji has yet to even use bankai (until possibly the last panel there), Mask is screwed big time.

I'd say that being bankai is quite likely. I mean, if it's not, Renji is just absurd.

I'm starting to really dislike Mask de Masculine.

How many second, third, fourth and fifth winds is he going to get?

Please let Renji or someone just one shot him and be done with it.

Q99: yeah, it really would be absurd if that's not bankai. and if Renji still isn't actually trying, then I don't know what to think other than why it's taking this long in the first place.

and yeah, Mask is really getting kind of ridiculous here with how he seems to survive everything so far.

His power is regen- I take it as, it's not really a classic 'second wind,' it's just an ability he can use repeatedly.

He's mocking the heroic second wind so it works.

indeed it does. and now that Mask is in his Volstang form, he's out of second winds now.

did it look like to anyone else that Renji's bankai is gonna be apart of or attached to his arm?

Hard to tell what's going on in that last panel.

looked like some kind of new modified sword to me.
