Maybe the same way Ichigo got Shinigami powers from his dad, despite Isshin having lost them? Her soul was tainted with that of a hollow, and Isshin was still a Shinigami.

I though Ichigo still got his hollow powers from his training with Urahara...or was that rectoned in the Isshin flashback?
Speaking of all of this, I'm still a tad disappointed that Yuzu and Karin aren't running around with Shinigami/Quincy/Hollow/Fullbring powers too at this point in the series.

It's been awhile, but that's mostly because I stop complaining about a manga when it loses my interest- no point in beating a dead horse.
I mean, I complained about sexism in OP not far back. And I complained about Bleach for awhile, but I only started again because it had rebuilt my expectations a little.

It's not just text-book worfing, it's text book worfing who doesn't need worfing to look strong against foes we really don't have a reason to believe are *that* strong to begin with, especially not individually. And it took up the entire chapter.
