Kubo could've did that ages ago. Instead we got two months of Gremmy preceeded by Renji and Rukia curbing opponents which Kubo still found a way to drag out.
Oh and I would be happy if someone would explain why exactly did Ichigo have to take "totally not Snake Way" while Rukia, Renji, and Byakuya got there with no problems.

This is a good point. People are overlooking the marketing shit he does. Kubo isn't dumb. I think Kubo could do a better job. The same as with the Lieutenants (that I keep referring back to), they could still get up after a few minutes of pain and then have their own fights. No reason Ichigo can't curb them and then run away and we STILL get our fights with all the mid-tier characters.

It could also be that Ichigo was so powerful that he couldn't take the other way or it would destroy that gate. Ichigo had to take the Snake-Way with the robes on because there was no way for him to get to SS any other way?
Or it could be that Ichigo has powers other than Shinigami powers and the other way has fail-safe ways that would activate traps or something that would bar him from going that direction. This one seems like the more logical answer.
However, we shouldn't have to come up with the explanations. That's Kubo's job.

and kill Ichigo. Because he's an incredibly dull character both in personality and in powerset.
I don't expect the latter, but I think the former is a reasonable request. It's pretty obvious though that what's about to happen is that the Gotei 13 members who haven't shown off new abilities are going to do so and the good guys will collectively clean house with no casualties.
Which is sad, because at this point in the manga the Sternritter are vastly more interesting in both design and personality than Ichigo and the Gotei 13 are.
What I'm wondering though is how Yhwach, Uryū and Haschwalth plan on taking out five Yamamoto-level Shinigami and Ichigo.
As for the battle, I like most of the Shinigami there. We have the two top seats from the 11th squad, Hisagi, and Rukia, Renji and Byakuya.
Hopefully we'll get something like: [list][*]Byakuya vs. Pepe[*]Rukia vs. Bazz-B (Ice vs. Fire, round 2)

Orihime boobies! I'm sorry that's what I took away from this chapter. I guess Kino meant for stuff to happen but nothing really happened. The path to the Soul King's palace is still open yet nobody seems too concerned. And where is Kyoraku? I know he's new to the job but damn...can't he do something.
eh, who knows? as it is right now, Soul Society's forces are still spread out. And as the new captain commander, Shunsui has a duty to stay put and protect the soul society. however, since all he knows about the Quincy is how they can steal his bankai, he's hesitant to go out fighting since he runs the risk of getting ganged up on. and as commander, that'd be unacceptable.
I think this chapter felt like old times. I can't quite describe it but it finally, after so many years, feels like the old stuff. Mystery, fun, adventure, and growth of characters. It feels like it is back.
I think that Kubo reads this thread like Kishimoto reads the Naruto thread. Except, the difference is, Kubo listens to my suggestions.
Obviously, I'm joking, but I have my suspicions.
When Chad threw a sulky Ichigo into the building, that was the best. I think that is because we ALL want to throw the emo-Ichigo into a wall to get him to snap out of it. He's angstier than a pregnant teenage girl.
