Fact is, after 100 years of professional female chess play, in an area where physicality is irrelevant and where psychological ability is an intrinsic part of the top level game...

... the whole world has still failed to produce anything but the tiniest fraction of female Grandmasters compared to male. In fact, the first ever female Grandmaster was only in the last 20 years.

I am sure various attitudes to the kind of things women were expected to do in their spare time has a lot to do with this- can't see the Russians putting the women into intesne chess training as they did the men in the Stalin era- but the situation is virtually the same in the modern day, with fully equal opportunities in western countries.

With the physical element removed, this is an interesting definition of some more concealed but still highly relevant fundamental differences between man and woman.

Oh I never said that a Williams sister or Sharapova would beat Roddick, Safin, Hewitt etc. but they may be capable of beating men lower down in the rankings and still remain world class, no? If they want to forfeit glory for equality then I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed.

i can only think of...umm..curling..and gymnastics(a part of them).
but the gymnastics fields restriction to males is logycal..since women are easier and more naturally flexible..so some forms of gymnastycs are only accessible to them...as are some only for men.

No, I am not talking aboot only Female Sports..I am saying if Females are allowed to play in the Male leagues..it would be unfair if they would still have seperate Leagues too...that's not equal......thats an advantage towards Women .....so it could either be seperate but equal (not really equal but fair) or just equal all the way (not reall that fair cause females don''t have the same physical level)
