so we can have a debate then...given that i'm not a racist

I think if this can of flooding an problems hit any city in the world they would face lawlessness. The death tolls is 535 and thats only counting if no one died in New Orleans.

The world is stunned at this disaster and if this is either a poor response or its just so bad even the US cant Handle it. IF you need help go ask for it. Who cares if it would be embarrassing to accept help from Canada and others. The situation now in New Orleans is more embarrassing beyond anything else.

A search and rescue team from Vancouver is in New Olreans and they say they may have to "dump" bodies in some area on mass. It was an local Canadian TV Channel. The thing is athat alot od deaths are being caused indirectly from the storm.

.

A Canadian reporter in New Orleans says he felt much safer in Banda Ache (place hardiest hit by the Tsunami) because at least the people there weren't going nuts as much.

It's a combination; this is one of the, if not THE worst disaster that's hit the US; they're already saying it's going to be the costliest. The response has been poor because much of the National Guard, who's job is to protect the US and therefore should be down in LA and MS rescuing people and rebuilding the levees in New Orleans, is in Iraq. People from all over the country are donating money and blood and items and going down there to volunteer but it's not going to be enough; Bush needs to suck up his imaginary pride and ask for help from other countries. It wouldn't make our country seem weak to ask for help with a disaster this large.

and............there is now Tropical Storm MARIA out in the atlantic. And it is exactly where Katrina was 2 weeks ago.

Manny, since you're the only other person it seems that actually knows anything about a hurricane itself, I was wondering if you had found a web page comparing and contrasting Camille to Katrina - or if you knew these numbers offhand.

I remember Camille's pressure being 907 mb and I believe Katrina's was lower at 902 mb. Wind Speed was 165 vs. 140, I think. And I know Katrina's area was about 80% larger. Stuff like that.

and with most of our nationa guard in iraq, bush will be hard put to ask for foreign troops to come to our shore...think about it, when was the last time foreign troops were on american soil?

and as for aid from other countries, i'm sure they're more than willing to give it, IF...bush swallows his pride....

anyone catch his swagger on CNN as he was briefed on the conditions of the gulf states. Oscar worthy if you ask me.

No Katrina was 912 mb, or something like that when it made landfall.

So its pressure was higher than Camille's. Wasn't entirely sure about that. I think the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935 was 892 mb.

BREAKING NEWS!

In another thread about Hurricane Katrina, KidRock has made his most relevant post ever:

"I assume most of them can walk or run."

I must agree 🙂.

Okay, what the hell.

I started in this thread from the beginning...and KidRock isn't being a moron.

I think...I have to agree.

*Scratches his head.*

yes it was, OOOO I cant wait to study Katrina, she had an amazingly low central pressure, heck when she was a CAT 4, her central pressure was low enough to be one kick ass CAT 5.

That why towns got wiped out, combination with LOW pressures and high( although there have been higher) winds.

whatever jaden. just keep running with unrelated points in an attempt to demonise a community. as long as you have a nation of people to bash, then this thread was all worth it.
It looks more like you went with the first one of those unrelated points 👆

Hmm.

At one point her pressure was down to 902mb, they were saying that was something like the 3rd lowest recorded ever. Also I've heard that they're considering reclassifying her as a Cat 5 when she made landfall because even though the windspeeds were that of a Cat 4, the storm surge was FAR more than that of a Cat 5.

Stalking an trolling? I've been reading this thread since it's creation, and trolling requires it happen all accross the boards, and I wasn't actualy flaming you, just pointing out the obvious hypocrisy of your statement. 🙂

No doubt; Camille's data already is absolutely extraordinary. When we get all of the data from Katrina, I believe we are going to uncover a few surprises.

Also, with that long beeline she took over those warm waters, I could have predicted a strong Category 3 at the very least, and last time I checked I didn't work at a news station. Heck, it doesn't take a meteorologist to figure that one out.

of which you still fail to elaborate on, and will continue to fail at.

I didn't know the waters in the Gulf was SOOOO warm. USUALLY the GULF of mexico has cooler waters, which aid to stall most big hurricanes. What happened with Katrina was unprecedented. And the season AINT DONT YET.

Not a Biblical reference, just a thought...I'm not going to turn this thread into something that belongs in the Religion forum, however.
