Bio
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

HK-47 was originally created by Darth Revan to be the quintessential assassin. While he is completely loyal - friendly, even - to those he identifies as "master", he has virtually no regard for any form of life, and is driven by an unquenchable thirst for blood. He characteristically uses the term "meatbag" when speaking of organic lifeforms, especially humans. This insult was originally used in passing by HK when insulting Revan's apprentice, Darth Malak. Revan found the insult (as well as Malak's annoyance) funny enough to order HK to consider all organics as "meatbags".

He is a high-performance assassin droid who excels and delights in all manner of violence. Despite his inherently menacing appearance, he is often mistaken for a protocol droid by a number of characters in the game, and has used this to his advantage on more than one occasion, hiding his true nature. He actually has a number of protocol functions in additional to his less legal ones, being fluent in Galactic Basic, a Sand People (Tusken) dialect, the beeps and whistles of astromech droids, and many other forms of communication, as is standard. In The Sith Lords, HK-47 claims to be able to double as a protocol droid.

In the first Knights of the Old Republic, depending upon the repair skill of the player, a number of interesting stories can be extracted from HK-47's memory. These stories reveal what HK had done before the player met him, and why HK-47 did the actions that he did. In all of them, he directly or indirectly killed his employers, still doing exactly what was asked of him. His programming prevents him from killing his master except by accident (if his master is killed, he shuts down automatically until manually restarted). In addition to these stories, HK-47 combat skills will be upgraded, resulting in raised dexterity, and the ability to regenerate over time.

In the sequel, The Sith Lords, HK-47 is found in a compartment on the Ebon Hawk in a state of disrepair. With the addition of four missing vital parts, HK can come back to life and serve the party once more. Also in the sequel game there are droids that the Jedi Exile encounters that resemble HK-47 that call themselves the "HK series droids" or the HK-50s that seem to have been hired to hunt Jedi (including the Jedi Exile). Their existence in the game was also supposed to include a HK factory that manufactured them, but that was cut from the game. Gamesave modders found the factory in KotOR II's game code and made it available for download to gamesave devices. [1]

In The Sith Lords, a great deal of information is learned about HK-47, if the player is willing to gain influence with the droid. HK-47 explains that his creation was inspired, however indirectly, from the actions of the Jedi Exile. The Exile's experiences using the mass shadow generator caused Revan to believe that, instead of mass slaughter, isolated and specific assassinations would be more effective for his goals.

It is also learned that those Revan ordered HK-47 to kill were not killed out of hatred: every being Revan used HK-47 to kill was a destablizer, a sentient who intentionally worked to weaken the galaxy as a whole. While The Sith Lords goes far to reveal that most of Revan's actions were strangely noble, HK's use as a galaxy-stabilizing tool is most remarkable.

His name is probably derived from the term "Hunter-Killer," relating to his assassin protocols. Also, some believe the name comes from the famous assault rifle the AK-47, the famed Hitman known as Mr. 47, or coming from H&K or Heckler & Koch, the German weapon manufacturer.

It is ironic to note that while HK is an insatiably violent and bloodthirsty killer, especially by droid standards, he stands out as one of the biggest sources of comic relief in the game. He often makes sadistic or insulting remarks while perpetually retaining an almost-aristocratic tone in his voice. At one point, HK informs the main character that the most optimal way of defeating a group of enemies is to simply toss grenades in every direction. The droid does not even care that the fight is taking place in a fully loaded bar. Some also assume that his usage of the word "meatbag" was inspired by Bender from Futurama, who is also a major comic relief.

It is unknown if Revan programmed some of HK's "morals and ethics", or if they simply formed on their own. One example of HK's quotes has that similar moral ambiguity prevalent in his programming. When the Exile asks HK-47 if he knows what love is, he responds: "Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope...Love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticule, and together, achieving a singular purpose against statistically long odds." Whether this is a metaphor with wisdom or merely more of the droid's blood lust is arguable.

And you think a huge groups of Jedi isn't able to throw back debris that a single force user threw at them ? Erm...

When have they ever shown that ability? Under the circumstances, how could they? No, this doesn't ring of truth; it's reshaping the evidence to support your cause.

And in fact powerful individuals can withstand Sith magic attack (see Voda vs. Exar Kun) so most likely Anakin, Mace and Yoda (at least) will survive long enough to attack Ragnos and as I said - he's going down.

Yes, Vodo survived Exar Kun's freeze spell and died very quickly in melee combat. Ragnos is MUCH stronger than Exar Kun. If we compare him to Kun and just make him exponentially better, he could probably freeze the entire jedi order and kill those who resisted it in melee combat or with the Force. His power is immense. Don't drag him down to other peoples' levels to win an argument. Mace and Yoda, though the most considerable jedi here, aren't gonna last very long against him. Yoda was slightly better than Sidious, and Ragnos would eat up Sidious and spit him out.

As I said...you only need Mace and Yoda closing to melee combat range and Ragnos is toast.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard from you, Nai.

Yoda alone would defeat Ragnos when he's able to close to melee range. Yoda is too fast to defend against with a normal sword and while Ragnos is a great force user he won't survive a duel against Yoda while using a Sith sword. That's like trying to kill an insect with a bazooka.

Oho! So now Yoda alone can take the greatest Sith lord of all time? What have you been smoking? This is ridiculous. Nai, you are out of your mind here.

@ Avis Why the heck did you post that?

ill explain it to you illustrious. a hk droid is no match for a jedi. All it will do is blaster fire at a jedi and the jedi will just deflect it and either redirect it or saber throw it or something. only about 15 sloppy younglings would get killed by a hk droid. They are nothing special. And if im correct, in KOTOR2 didnt t3m4 kill like 5 hk droids. imguessing a t3m4 are basically the same as a r2d2droid. Using this information 70 hk droids coulod only take out about 15 r2d2 droids.

First of all gameplay experience, second of all not an HK-47 HK-50 losely based on the same thing but not developed by Revan instead it was mass produced in a factory its not going to be as special.

Now the Droids are not going to be shooting with normal weapons, thats already ben discussed nobody is that stupid, especially not those droids... They are going to use alternative weapons. Mines grenades, flame throwers disruptor rifles everything and anything that can stop those bastards from coming closer.

Your information for the rest is competely biased and based on nothing but gameplay experience which makes no sense (btw: There were only 3 HK-50 droids)

nai i must call the police about your cocaine problem. you are very high.

Glentract everyone is underesimating the droids

When has Ragnos shown the ability to do any of the things you say he can do. It makes sense that he could do some of them(he couldn't freeze the Jedi Order) and it makes sense that the Jedi could do many of the things he Nai has said they could.

Are you saying that I am underestimating the droids? If you are, then I believe you are incorrect.

Watch Clone Wars. In it, Mace destroys HUNDREDS of droids, many of them were Super Battle Droids. Didn't you see how Mace could block shots from dozens of the droids when he got his lightsaber back. Even in that battle when he didn't have his lightsaber he was able to waste those droids with force powers.

im just saying that 3 average hk series droids were defeated by a seriously strong astromech droid. i dont think any astromech droid could kill a jedi

Except for god Artoo...

Those were HK-50 though, and they are going to argue that HK-47 is uber-better.

Glentract, no one can prove or disprove that Ragnos can freeze the council. But considering he is labeled officially as the greatest Sith of all time, and weaker Sith (Kun) could do something similar, it's not too far a jump to say he could do the same thing or greater. In any case, that act was labeled as Sith magic, which is a refined dark side technique learned from the ancient sith. Who was the top sith? Ragnos. If he wasn't at least aware of the ability and able to replicate or counter it, he wouldn't be much of a sith lord.

Maybe the HK droids will kill each other and Ragnos too because they don't care if their own team members get hurt in their progress of killing!

Hey what does everybody think of this fun droid?!
It's the insane bounty hunter droid IG-88!!

Ragnos isn't that far above Yoda. He will beat him, but not by a huge amount. It will be about the same as Dooku vs. Obi-wan IMO. If you throw in Obi-wan, Anakin, Plo Koon, Depa Bilaba, Sora Bulq, he will lose.

For the droids. If, like you say, the droids will do most of the killing, then in is unreasonable to say that the Jedi won't sense this and attack them. Mace alonce could take them, but it would likly take at least five minutes. He could lose to the droids, but its unlikly. To cement his victory, through in Luminara and Barriss. Together, they will kill the droids in five minutes tops.

If you don't believe me that Mace could kill these droids, then watch clone wars. He kills several hundred super battle droids.

In this battle, Mace will be the pivot point. If he manages to kill all the droids, then the Jedi win, with maybe a tenth of the Order dying. If one of the droids gets lucky and kills Mace, then the Jedi will probably lose closer to half of the Order because he is the powerhouse for killing the droids. Luminara and Barriss could take the droids without Mace if they had some help from others such as Shaak Ti ect.

Are any of you Ragnos supporters going to give an argument for this?

As I said...you only need Mace and Yoda closing to melee combat range and Ragnos is toast.

No. Not at all. In fact, the opposite. Yoda was a good swordsman, in his own right. Compared to everyone of his time, he was arguably the best. But compared to all Jedi and Sith fighters, mediocre at best. You have the remember the PT era Jedi were Jedi who pretty much mastered the Force, and were weak at that, and diplomacy. The Jedi from KotOR and pre-KotOR were bred for war, and soldiers at that. They were born in the golden age of swordfighting, meanwhile the top five swordsman of the PT were Yoda, Windu, Sidious, Dooku, and Obi-Wan. If you actually think about it, that's horrible compared to the older Jedi. I doubt anyone from the PT era could hang with 95% of the Jedi from KotOr and pre-KotOr eras.

Where is Ragnos labeled as the greatest Sith of all time? I would really like to see that. Where was the freeze technique labeled as Sith Magic?

i actually think that there is no way the droids will take out more jedi than the actual amount of the droids

That's because the droids can't. Mace could take most of the droids by himself.

Do you honestly think that he is going to fight the droids? He is going to be far to bussy avoiding Ragnos his attacks.

Glentract, it's in the synapsis of the Tales of the Jedi series. Narration. Go look for yourself. Illustrious and I already confirmed it.

Why, do you have a theory that totally dispels Ragnos being the greatest (Or perhaps I should say most powerful) sith lord of all time? Is this another attempt to discredti Ragnos to appease the anti-Ragnos debaters? Seriously... Nitpicking isn't your style.

What is it that leads people to believe that Ragnos ISN'T great?
