Ragnos temple purge

Whoa, all this talk about how I should conduct my social life coupled with a loose psychoanalysis.

I think I should clarify that I don't mind engaging in social activities, its just that the people I prefer to talk with are almost never around my age and are hard to find at a Liberal Arts school.

Hence why I am still in contact with my teachers from High School and take time to visit my professors after class.

All I'm saying is that if I were in his shoes, I'd consider the source. I would ask myself, is the person who is giving me tips (in what may or may not be a condescending manner) really all that qualified to be giving them?

In this situation, you'd have to prove that I wasn't a credible source. Since I don't have any history of lying, making shit up, etc, I don't see the problem. My job isn't to be nice and loving, I try to tell it like it is. If it comes off condescending, then that's the way it comes off. You can't logically write me off as a source, considering that I AM older than you, and that I HAVE experienced everything I'm describing, and that I'm NOT talking out of my ass.

I'm not saying you're not, DS, but I'm just saying that I doubt he'll be receptive to such advice (particularly when it's presented in the way you've presented it) from someone who may or may not be a social leper himself. [/B]

Well, like I said. I think my first gf was actually at 17 now that I remember, although that lasted 3 months. I had very few friends in high school because my maturity level was drastically below everyone else and I was just a dick. Later I found out I had weird chemical imbalances due to multiple concussions from sports during my adolescence. I went to college with an open mind. I wanted to put myself out there and see if it would change me for the better. I admit for the first 6 months, I was deathly terrified. I either didn't go at all, or got totally hammered to the point where I didn't have to talk to anyone. Then as time went on, I had to drink less and less to be social (although I drank more because being buzzed was fun). After 18 months, I didn't have to drink at all because it became natural. And that's what I'm trying to explain. Under most circumstances, people do not go to a non commuter College for the education. You want an education? Get a book and read it at home. College is for the social experiences Gideon. If I ask you "Gideon, why did you go to college", are you going to seriously tell me that it was only because it was a pathway to law school?

Well, no, I'm not saying DS is a social leper (maybe a physical one?) nor am I saying that KMC posters are social lepers. If anything, I'd say active internet surfing/participation is becoming more commonplace.

Spoiler:
Ashley (and tons of my friends), for example, knows about how I post here and elsewhere, that I had an Xbox live subscription and that I played RuneScape.

How many people go to your school? I didn't even know Liberal Arts schools still existed. I loved "Real Genius" btw. Have you actually made it a point to put yourself out there? There must be a few thousand students at your school at LEAST and the probability of you not finding ANYONE compatible is highly unlikely. What's the point of a liberal arts school anyways? I ask because I always attributed a liberal arts degree to either unemployment, or a high school teacher.

Yea, almost nobody knows I post on Star Wars forums except my gf, and she gives me a "facepalm" when I mention it. KMC is my way out of the real world an I enjoy it at times I want to be alone, and I might as learn a thing or two while I'm at it.

Says who?

DS
considering that I AM older than you, and that I HAVE experienced everything I'm describing, and that I'm NOT talking out of my ass.

That's if people are forced to take you at you'reyour word (

Spoiler:
people aren't
). If I said I had a thirteen inch dick, toured with Journey, and fvcked twenty amateur lingerie models, you wouldn't just take me at my word, would you?

The point is that you can't expect him to do as you say when he has no way of knowing that you're as socially successful as you say you are.

Ya dig?

DS

Yes.

And my father threatened to kill me if I didn't go. 😐

You saying you are an underwear model or have a respectable sized penis would be so ludicrous that you can't expect any of us to believe it. What I'm saying has no bearing on my online reputation(if you haven't noticed, I don't care about mine), and no bearing on my life whatsoever. Finally, what I'm stating is a guide, not anything to brag about. Because I'm stating something that you at some point will have to go through (if you haven't already), and because I've earned the right at my age and experience, I think you should just stfu and do what I say.

Yes.

And my father threatened to kill me if I didn't go. 😐 [/B]

Your father threatened to kill you if you didn't go to a non commuter school? You need a non commuter school to get into law school?

Edit: Everyone can ignore my advice, I couldn't care honestly. But do you want to grow up to be 30 something and lack friends, a girlfriend or a wife, and spend most of your time on forums, all because you couldn't better yourself socially?

DS

Yer missin da pointe az yoosyuall.

He has no way of knowing that, outside of your sexy online disposition, that you ARE WHO YOU SAY YOU ARE. For example, what if you don't really have a girlfriend? What if you haven't really went to law school? What if -- and I shudder to think this -- you're actually liberal?

He'd be an idiot to just take some random dude's word on the interwebz.

Even if that random dude, again, exudes sex appeal...

DS

No, you asked why I went to college at all. Dad threatened to kill me if I didn't.

Okay, I think I see what you were saying now. I agree with McBeef that a huge reason most people got to college isn't for the education, it's for the experiences. That's why I'm going. Most older people I know met their best friends in college.

BTW, don't hide the fact that you post on KMC. Girlz find it sexy 😛

I think it is worth noting that I am secretly 65 years old and everything I've done is just to get into DS's pants. He is twelve, isn't he?

I would shoot myself before becoming liberal. And he doesn't have to consider ANY of what you just mentioned. You can be objective and use logic to determine if what I said is logically sound(it is).

He'd be an idiot to just take some random dude's word on the interwebz.

He'd be an idiot not to think about it logically, since you guys preach that here so much.

I am the epitome of sex appeal.

I realize this is what I asked but if you look at my central theme, it's "going to a non commuter school, because if you were going just for the education, then you can live at home and attend a commuter school."

Technically, 17 is legal in Texas. Gotta love this state.

The Evergreen State College has around 4500 students. It is rather small. As for my decision to go to a liberal arts school, it was my only choice. I've never taken the SAT or ACT and had to go to a Community College first. I failed our state's version of No Child Left Behind and never managed to pass it despite retaking it four times. I couldn't even make it in regular High School. I ended up at an alternative High School for those "that couldn't make it in regular High School." Even there, I ended up graduating with only a 2.7. Since I had already started taking Running Start classes at the local community college, I decided to finish that out and earn my Associate of Arts (which I did.) I earned a 3.6 and then decided to earn a Bachelor of Arts (a useless degree by itself) and use that to go on to Grad school at University of Washington.

And I did "put myself out there." I have three roomates and they introduced me to their friends and I went to a few social actives with them, but getting high really isn't all that interesting and I'm allergic to alcohol. I found them to be completely uninteresting so I decided to try out one of the clubs.

Looking for people that had similar interests, I checked out the DnD club, but discovered that all the participants were incredibly annoying teenagers on permanent diets of mountain dew and pizza.

I decided to looking for a writing club, but lo and behold, my school doesn't have a writing club (a massive irony since Evergreen is one of the most liberal schools in the US.) I have however, given some thought to starting a writing club and putting out an advertisement in the school paper (I've written a few opinion pieces for them.)

Well I love AK just the way he is. ^_^

Damn, at least your GPA was near a 3, and not nearing a 2 cough cough.

That's not really putting yourself out there dude. That's getting to know a few people from a small group that you weren't interested in to begin with, and then use that as a representative sample. I think I went to at least two month's worth of house parties/bars before I found people I can hang out with. Then again, I went to a place with nearly 50,000 students in a party town so...I'm just saying, something IS out there.

Wtf is DnD? Dungeons N' Dragons? lol

I guess if that's what you want to do. I'm not knocking your life, I just think you can make more use of it socially because like you said, you're getting a useless degree and you're not going to have those opportunities in Grad School when you actually have to settle down and do shit. I'm lucky I haven't gone on a cocaine binge yet.

Can you people cut this bullshit so H actually sees my post?

kthx

Nope, not gonna happen.
