What is bigger...Your mind or the Universe?

Started by crispycream11 pages

the universe is bigger than our mind. everyday we are discovering new things with our minds and there are so much more things about the universe that we don't know about like the solar system and beyond. it's impossible to comprehend and get our minds round some of the things

Human mind is the most powerful thing known to man.

if it's so powerful then why don't we know everything about the universe already?

How small minded of you.... 🙄

We know more about the Universe than we do about what is in the oceans.

Learning is a process not a one time magical event where all is shown to you.

Plus don't forget we have the infamous unconscious mind that we haven't touch on...who knows what kind stuff is hidden inside. Don't go all Freudian on me. 😛

Would I ever! hypocrite

Sometimes it seems that the biggest thing ever is the human ego.

The universe easily, though I'm sure somedays are minds make us wonder.

Freud....Nah, I don't like him....I like Jung..

Our minds are unlimited in it's potential...we are just inferior at realizing it...well, that's my take on it............ If there is life somewhere else...maybe they've figured it out...that's why they publish books..... 😕

I'd have to say the universe. The human mind has limits, things it can't achieve - nor comprehend.

The universe is endless, never ceasing, far beyond the scope of anything we can imagine.

Mind is the Universe's way for it to understand itself.

Our mind unlimited in potential? As much as we would like to think so that is for a fact wrong.

How so?...I see the mind as much larger and not just inclusive to the brain organ.

There are things you do not yet understand correct? The mind has limitations.

The mind is more then just understanding..........

The problem is the definition of the mind. You add the unseen element of the entity to the equation, were as most people are talking about the physical part only.

What is your opinion if you were only referring to the physical part?

That really intrests me,Is you mind so powerful that maybe part of you already knows what's going to happen? Is the reason you sometimes feel happy or sad for no reason something you are thinking in your unconsicious mind?

I think what most people mean by mind is the subjective experience of self; information processing; symbolic reasoning; envisioning, etc. As such, there is no "physical part" to the mind. The "physical correlation" to the mind is the brain, which is a material entity that operates electrochemically and appears to give rise to the subjective, nonmaterial phenomenon of mind.

The physical universe is obviously bigger than the brain. But the physical/nonliving universe--by definition--can not perceive, reason nor imagine, abilities which permit us--as teeny, finite bits of protoplasm--to go virtually anywhere in space and time, including "other universes."

(Asking, "But what if there is a God, or the Universe is alive/conscious, etc"? ignores what I've said: "physical/nonliving", which is how I am interpreting the term "universe" in relation to this question. If "universe" is to be interpreted as being more than "physical/nonliving," that is, possibly alive and conscious, then why ask the question in the first place--which is bigger--since no real distinction is being made between the two?)

This question is feisty enough without introducing "the unconscious," especially since--like the conscious mind--it is a multi-faceted landscape, but one that is largely unexplored and makes up--by far--most of the psyche.
