These weren't surenames as much as they were titles. They would of the first name Judas, followed by Iscariot (which probably meant -"Son of Icarus"😉. Or the places they were from like Jesus of Nazareth.

Yes but now for exapmle if some ones name where for example Michael Paris. If you took they're last name and implied your theory, than that would mean they are from france. Well let me tell you. This kid is American, Father's from South america, and doesn't have a drop of french in him (Last name's mine, but not first).

Most likely in that case they had a distant ancestor who originally was from France and the name passed down.
Surnames originally started out meaning one of several things.
1) Who the person's father was (ie Johnson)
2) Where they were from (surnames that are names of towns, countries, etc)
3) What their job was (ie Smith)
4) A physical characteristic (ie Little)
5) A title (ie King)
Finti's 'theory' (as you called it) about the origin of a last name are how surnames originally came to be. Study a little geneaology.
