AC grow up. Life does on despite your claims of being manipulated by marketing coorperations.

goes* 🙂

Don't take it the wrong way AC, I'm sure your an alright bloke sometimes, but you've got to stop being so paranoid.

Are you suggesting the critics have fallen most heavily into the trap?

See, that's my thing with AC's comments. I don't think anyone is setting up traps. For me critics are people just like you and me and everyone else. We all have different opinions just like tastes.

Well, you see, I am on topic seeing as I am discussing my evaluation of your review of...yeah, you guessed it...'Snakes On a Plane'! Thanks to your insightful review, I don't think I'll waste my money on it. Thank you again!

No, you weren't on topic when you address me in your first post. Using caps and foul language are typical behavior of a Troll. Have you address me in the different more social way...I might have giving you a more direct response. Well, you already establish pretty clear you're not going to see this flick so I don't see why would you hang around. But then again attention is free...

Was it the bit about the duck that was so offensive, or did you not see that my vitriol wasn't entirely serious?

I'm as curious about the phenomena surrounding this movie as other people here. I'm sure it's a fun, throw-away shit-flick, but why all the hoopla about snakes being on a plane, and Samuel L. Jackson saying 'motherf*cking' a couple of times? Also, surely you can't enjoy his 'foul language', can you?

Well, there is undeniably a specific marketing strategy at work, as with most things. This one is particularly sly, because it'll get people who like dumb movies seeing it at face value, as well as people being ironic about their appreciation of it. It also has, as you said, some interest generated by people who aren't fans.

That was a given from the beginning. Doesnt change the fact that the movie was hilarious.

It was great!

My expectations were pretty low, so I was pleasantly surprised. I went with about 10 other people too, which made it more fun.

It was a campy, action-packed and humorous film. Anyone who needs a good dose of mindless entertainment should see this movie. But you need to be in the right mindset. Don't go in expecting an Oscar-winning film. Either go in expecting a fun movie or nothing at all, and I pretty much guarantee that you'll like it.

i saw it on Thursday, and I thought it was - no joke - one of the greatest movies ever. Of course, this is coming from a Sam Jackson fan and a lover of fun and entertainment. *gasp* And my expectations were pretty high.

Of course, there was the fact that I saw it with some of my best friends, so that might have heightened the experience.

But still, it was f**king awesome

so yea.. this was even worse than i imagined it would be. Sam Jackson Is one of the most over rated actors in the industry.. or maybe he just makes too many horrible choices.

i saw this movie it was funny.....

(Spiolier scences)

In this one scence this guy and this fine As$ girl are having sex. and a snake pops out of know where and bites her on the nipple.
And this guy is pissing on a scene and then boom it bit his cock and he died

Exanda, please just leave if you can't contribute.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you say in another thread that you paid to watch Pirates of the Caribbean II? What the difference between Snakes and POTC II? Both are marketing ploys. Both are mindless entertainment.

Pirates wasn't more or less born with the plan to market as a nerdy internet meme, thus putting nerds everywhere into a position where you simply have to go see it. It has a plot and regardless of whether it was marketed, as all movies are, it's not a movie born with the sole purpose of advertising: "Look, this movie is simply snakes on a plane. That's it.", and having people pay.

As said previously, there's a very specific marketing ploy with this one. Dumb people go to see it because it's on their level, and others go to see it because they think it's this ironic, poking fun mega film, and we're out of the loop if we don't get it.

The fact is, they gave everyone a title and a vague plotline and then the nerds did the marketing for them. All the fake soundtracks, all the fake posters and trailers, that was how this movie got it's word out, and you were all used as marketing tools, plain and simple. If you didn't take part in it, then you've simply been suckered by it.

Why you're so upset about this is quite strange. You've made the leap, you've said you love it and that you'll go see it again, so why are you trying to defend your actions? You got played like an arcade machine.

Worth the price of admission, I'll bet...

Or maybe, just maybe, it's a fun film thats supposed to be over-the-top cheestastic and pointless. Some people like those kinds of movies. And I don't think that they are dumb for doing so.

Where in my post did I deny such an option exists? I was merely pointing out the two prominent options most visable in this post.

-AC

this film seems to be getting far more attention than it deserves

it's a dung heap...

There's nothing to contribute AC. You havn't given any options or any points, simple fact is that all films are made for money, dsitributors will always find different ways to market them and Snakes on a Plane is another example of that, albeit a hilarious one.

There is plenty to contribute, you ignorant child. From the minute I've entered this thread I've put forth opinions and points, that's the reason I'm here. So for you to say I've not is just ignorant.

I never denied films are made for money, I said this film is nothing more than an exercise in marketing, and you're all suckers for it, despite the obviousness of it all.

So I reiterate, contribute or shut up.

-AC

people are free to feel about any movie the way they wish........ but AC, as you deem Snakes on a Plane stupid......I'd advise you to stay away from the Horror Forum. I mean....if it's stupid to see a movie just because Samual L. Jackson (a real man) stars in it.......I can only imagine how you would deem Friday the 13th part 3-10, ANOES 2-7, Halloween 2-8, Hellraiser 2-8 or any other flick people go to see simply because it has a fictional character starring in it.

Kid, grow up. Your not contributing to the thread, your calling everyone suckers for falling for a cheap marketing ploy. Everyone already knows this is little more than a marketing attempt, but that does not mean in any circumstance that the people talking about the film here didn't see that.

If you cannot realise that we all know this, and you insist on lecturing us, then by all means carry on.

Put that logic away, you'll do yourself a mischief.

Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger and Pinhead can only be seen in their respective movie franchises. So going to see Halloween for Myers isn't as stupid as going to see Snakes on a Plane for Samuel L. Jackson. You don't need to see the movie for him, he's in other movies, Myers isn't.

Instead of trying to debate me like a puppy starved of affection, why don't you go and see that I've contributed to topic a lot more than you have since I arrived in this thread. You just reply to me, wherever I post.

WrathfulDwarf is blissfully unaware that this movie is primarily an exercise in marketing, so why should I give everyone the credit of being aware? If you're aware and you still swallow the pill, that's worse.

Evidently you don't all know this, and yes, I'll carry on if I wish. I don't need your permission.

I will be waiting for this on dvd to borrow, fan of Julianna Margulies, so will be watching it one day.

Am I the only one who doesn't get what is so great about this mother ****ing quote thingy Jackson says in the movie?

I'll be surprised if anyone can credibly answer that.

-AC

I didn't get the motherf*cking quote at first. After I heard it a million times, I started to like it.

I saw it last night. It was a fun B movie. It was very simple and to the point. And it was really funny. It's also a fun movie to MST the entire way through.
