nothing... supes was in a particularly bad place... he'd lost lois, and he was obsessively trying to repair something that turned out to be (indirectly) his fault (the vanishing)

and batman is pretty much a dick to everyone in comics that arent his own... it wouldnt be a jla comic without batman getting all dickish...

Joe Casey tended to portray Superman as the MOST powerful guy in the universe. He stated that he could Rearrange a Solar System like Majestic did, when he was writing his book. He even stated that it was probably Superman who gave him the idea in the first place.

That’s also pretty amazing speed feat, since Pa Kent said he was light years away from Superman, and Supes had to have gone several light-years in less than 3 hours.
