It was before that 😛

Doctor Light was during the McDuffie era, though. This was a man that underused Superman to the point of hilarity, wrote him completely OOC, and then admitted that he had nerfed him for a team book.

Pfft. We don't take writer's intentions, Pr....

If we did, then we have McDuffie admitting his intentions were to nerf Superman.

If we don't, then we ignore McDuffie's low showings...

Good man. 👆

It's an easy win for Kal-El
Why?
1. Superspeed (hulk could not land a hit on him)
2. Super strength (his strength easily matches hulks and surpasses it)
3. Laws of physics do not apply to superman, he can defy gravity
4. If superman grabs hulk and throws him into the sun, hulk is a goner
5. He draws his power from the sun, hulk draws his from anger and enragement. The sun has no limits in the power it gives to him.

Going so well until point 5...

Yea I don't know what I was trying to say with that one.

Every piece of this is wrong.

So Superman can't defy gravity?

Superman can't defy gravity?

Not if there's enough of it, he can't.

That was true even of the powerful Metal Age versions of him:

Thankfully, I'm not talking about pre-crisis Superman.

facepalm

But that's not what Supra said, and what carver is disputing..

Sure isn't.

Everything on Supra's list needs qualifications to be right or is only right within a certain range.

I'll expand on that later.

As for Superman being able to defy gravity?
No, if there's enough of it, pre OR post-Crisis, he's got limits.

Writers started exploring those limits fairly extensively once the World of New Krypton era rolled around, too. I don't recall where the following is from issue-wise, but I remember it being from about that same period ...

I didn't say that I agreed with everything on the list.

"World of New Krypton". Yes, the arc that lowered Superman's stock considerably, and part of the reason why his reboot was so welcomed.

That said, Superman has plenty of instances when he'd resisted (even extreme) gravity. So my original point stands.

^ That's a year one superman. Holy phail batman

PC superman gained his powers from the low gravity of earth so he wasn't at full power in heavy gravity areas.

It lowered your average Kryptonian's stock even more.

No wonder everyone kept saying Daxamites are > Superman, going by how weak most Kryptonians seemed. Daxamites actually make Superman work at beating them down. 💃
