Although it's true that all templates are good, I can see where DDB comes from. Some types simply won't appeal to certain people. I myself realised recently that there is no way that I could successfully play any of the political templates. But there are many others I would have been happy with. But Dark, as was said earlier, if there's no templates left open that you like, you should simply not play. No one said you have to play This game, although I'm sure you're as welcome as anyone else, if you settle on something you like. If nothing else, you still have your Dark Jedi to play with later.

History: Rhys was born on Coruscant, growing up in the middle of the transition to the Empire. He learned to simply accept its rule during his youth, and became an average trader. However, Rhys soon discovered that with Imperial taxes and tariffs, the life of a trader wasn’t quite as lucrative as he had hoped it would be. Luckily, he discovered another form of trading that, in exchange for a little courage and cunning, eventually resulted in a much better payoff. Thus Rhys disappeared from Coruscant, entering an entirely different layer of the galaxy.
In the beginning of his free trading career, Rhys found the best business in the Hutts. His first mistake was in being caught by an Imperial patrol in a “routine cargo check.” Rhys – perhaps unwisely – jettisoned his cargo (undisclosed drugs destined for Tatooine). The Imperial patrol could find nothing to report him on, but the cargo meanwhile had drifted into a meteor shower and been destroyed.
While he was wise enough not to personally explain the loss to a Hutt, Rhys did think it would be properly courteous to at least let Jabba know what had happened to his cargo. As a solution, Rhys placed a holorecording of himself, carefully explaining the details of the situation, in an escape pod and fired it off from orbit above Tatooine. Unfortunately, instead of landing at the “slithering distance” from the palace that Rhys had planned, the escape pod actually crashed through the ceiling of Jabba’s throne room, causing hundreds of thousands of credits in property damages and minor injuries to the Hutt himself. Also unfortunately, the holorecorder inside was completely unharmed.
Jabba immediately filed a bounty, vaguely citing “property loss and damages” as the reason. Enough bounty hunters would have gone just on that, but Rhys freely spread the story through cantinas himself, and due to his charisma and the sheer ridiculousness of the tale, he quickly developed a reputation more likely to produce a pat on the back and a free drink than a blaster. He still technically has a bounty on his head, but very few are willing to take down such a laughable bar legend.
Rhys came upon the Rebellion in the same way that most of his type did; he simply took more and more contracts from them until he worked for them almost exclusively. While Rhys understands the danger of what would happen if the Empire connected him to the Rebellion, he believes the Rebellion is doing something worth fighting for, and he will take nearly any risk for its cause.
Personality: Rhys seems hardly to be careful or calculating – in fact, it seems as if he plays everything by ear, acts without thinking, and generally bumbles around in everything he does. In reality all this masks a clever mind that takes everything it can into account before determining a set course of action. Rhys has a somewhat carefree attitude, lounging around, flippantly chatting with his superiors, and snoozing almost anywhere. But when in action, Rhys can talk fast and lie well, and is handy in a firefight.
Ship: Rhy’s ship is a sleek fighter-turned-cargo-ship named the Black Dawn. The ship came to him through a long line of sellers, and he has never been able to find out the specific make, nor the planet of origin. It is old enough to be pretty beat-up, but is still workable. The back area, previously filled with powerful electronic equipment for losing missile locks, following targets, and various other battle-oriented tasks, has since been modified to hold cargo, and can hold medium-sized bulk shipments. Integrated into the ship is a droid called XD-99, which, though a bit erratic due to numerous memory wipes, is a fairly good co-pilot and information retriever.
Rhys has, at best, a love-hate relationship with the Black Dawn. Over the years he’s had it, he’s developed a sense for it that makes him the only one capable of operating it properly, but as soon as something breaks down, it becomes subject to a combination of curses and loving pleadings. It has somehow managed to save his life more than once, though, and for that he wouldn’t sell it for any other ship in the galaxy (except maybe a private comfort cruiser complete with staff).
(Recent History involving Rhys' meeting with "Frank" coming as soon as I can rewrite it out of AIM form)
WooHoo! Here's the score for listed characters so far, not including planned but as-yet-unposted characters.
Rebel Characters: 10
Imperial Characters: 9
That's an amazingly even split between sides. There seems to be a pretty descent spread of templates represented, too. Wow, this is going to be good! I'm keeping track of it for my own notes, so I can keep everyone straight when we play. I've posted it in case anyone's interested. That, and so I can make sure it's correct, in case I've missed someone, or there's a change I didn't notice.
Dramatis Personae (😉 to the EU novels.)
Rebels Alliance:
Senator Galahad Klinge-Faust (Alkaselzer)
Idealistic Noble Sasha Torvuelle` (bobcrickett)
Ace Pilot Maximillian Tyrull (Fire)
Smuggler Kyle Ragnor (Jazzman_78)
Geonosian Elite Eerin Chim (Bespin Bart)
Smuggler U’Ya Alac’Kalya (Aliies)
Smuggler Rhys Kyril (General Kaliero)
Rebel Pirate Scarlet Cavarel (Vera21)
Bounty Hunter Kai Jiku (ResubianNushi)
Alien Scthrk’Imrf-gdrr aka Frank (Thraxis)
Imperial Taskforce:
Administrator Melkor Esgabath (Lord Melkor)
Captain Atillian Trebeis (barbarossa)
General Vantos Coll (Captain Rex)
General Narrik Elias (DrkDethBringer)
Commander Jaiden Ra (2Tidus)
Agent Karn Stirge (KingDubya)
Agent Lyle Crett (Trickster)
Bounty Hunter Rylis Tavel (Lana)
Assassin Arvus Okmead (General Zink)
Actually, you're down 2. I've only got posted characters here, and I think tptmanno is working on an Ace. Still, considering the numbers it's far from the landslide I thought it'd be. I actually thought the Rebels would end up far behind.
Of course, there's still time for others to possibly join, so it may yet change. It does make me wonder if there is a player cap for this game though. 20 is going to be huge. I don't know if it's been asked or even addressed by Ush yet, but will there be separate threads for each side?

Hmm, you're missing 3 Pilot Tricks.
For Merits, I suggest taking Starship for one, so that you can have a cool TIE Fighter instead of the standard ones you're leading. 😛
Also, maybe an Ally for a better wingman?
And a Haven, so that if you're going to get beaten in a fight, you can at least escape. Think Vader at the end of ANH. He flies to the nearest Imperial safehaven off screen.
thats freaking funny I was gonna ad that I have it typed up but it wouldn't let em edit I was too lkate thos eare exactly what I wnated lol here it is lol and Dead shot takes up 3 doesn't it?

I'd have your Ally be a pilot like yourself, so that in a dogfight, you have a reliable wingman. Otherwise, you're going to have the standard Imps flying their dinky TIEs around.
And for Haven, make it something less likely to be known. Haven's are for hiding. 😉
And you're still missing 2 Pilot Tricks. What you SHOULD do is get Soft Landing and Favorite Seat, as you do, and then use the other 4 Pilot Tricks to build up on one thing or the other. Dead Shot and Killer Instinct would be VERY useful. Spreading out Tricks for anything is not advanced, it leaves you not as strong as you would like to be.
