Why CAN'T Superman beat Thanos??

Thanos is stronger, faster and more intelligent.

Speedblitz is a stupid concept. It doesnt work unless a character can become vastly more powerful at will. As long as a character like superman, gladiator or silver surfer has a finite amount of power, they can either have their maximum strength or accelerate themselves to their maximum speed but not both because both using their maximum strength requires their full power as does reaching their maximum speed.

This is just the way I see it. Thanos was supposedly meant to be Sky-Father level and Superman... well... wasn't meant to be that powerful.

When people state a character's power level, they usually refer to four separate categories: street-level, mid-tier, top-tier, and sky-father.

I just see Thanos as a Sky-Father and Superman as a top-tier. Supes IS faster (Thanos has no real speed feats) and COULD win depending on how he fights, but I just believe Thanos to be more powerful in general.

In general, you are correct. However, if Superman were to utilize his speed advantage, I don't think it's totally out of the realm of possiblity for him to snag MAYBE 2-3/10.

i tend to agree. i've had this discussion. either ss and every other cosmic is a moron because they don't use speed, or there is a reason. now, adding credence to the moron side of teh debate -- runner made thanos look the fool and he wasn't going THAT fast. but, he DID have the space gem . . .

everyone else either KNOWS speed won't help them (thanos perceives superspeed easily??) so they don't bother with it, OR . . . they're morons. 😬

so, which is it? why DON'T characters use superspeed on him??

If they know speed won't work they should also know those weak energy attacks aren't going to work either. If thats the case, SS would start Thanos fights by flying to safety at his vaunted 300x lightspeed.

wow sb really worked, and heres the end of the fight. that looks like someone over supes just got beaten to death, on a sb.

Well how many characters effectively speedblitz in Marvel the way we think of a speedblitz? Off the top of my head all I can think of is Gladiator.

You brought up the Runner example and someone has told me Starfox speedblitzed Thanos effectively and though he still lost, Starfox hardly brings top tier strength to the table like Surfer or Superman would.

it's a cosmic powers unltd, i think. can't remember the issue. 2 or 3 maybe . . .?

ss does CRAP against thanos. thor has had a couple good showings.

what level is starfox? because hes thanoss brother, you think hed be strong.

starfox is actually pretty weak, though he had a very good showing against thanos pretty recently. he has emotion control, but he was battling thanos h2h.

so is he in the class 100s.
