What the **** was THAT?! 😑

BTW, I've seen some PS3 gameplay videos and stuff (we got a DVD from Sony with that stuff that we were watching yesterday at work...we were using the 360 to play it which just amused the hell out of me) and...what was on ther wasn't all that terribly impressive, I must say. Pre-rendered stuff and cutscenes look great, but game-play doesn't so much.

THAT was the creepiest game ad ever made, seriously. And I agree, a lot of the PS3 material we've seen so far has been pre-rendered CGI movies... the gameplay is mediocre, and looks the same as 360 to me.

Well, whachoo guys think?

Oh, I get it! Sony is saying that the PS3 is so powerful that demons will possess anything, even stupid-looking baby dolls, just for the chance to tearfully gaze upon it without a TV or electricity or anything!

Boy, now I just want to ignore that price and Sony's rampant stupidity!

Microsoft: War on Modder???

What we heard: Microsoft released its Fall System Update for the Xbox 360 today and Internet forums were quickly buzzing with reports that the update had "bricked" users' consoles, rendering them unable to play games or even boot up normally.

While Microsoft is staying mum on the subject, the bulk of speculation is that the Fall Update is intended to brick Xbox 360s that have been modded. However, some posters are reporting problems with unmodded consoles being bricked, and forum-goers at Xbox Scene are saying that the update is not consistently bricking modded consoles.

Furthermore, Team Xecuter is reporting that bricked consoles can still be repaired relatively painlessly, and that Microsoft isn't banning GamerTags or specific systems from Xbox Live, something that would seem a distinct possibility if the company wanted to come down hard on modders.

So what's the deal here? If Microsoft intended to brick modded consoles, it didn't do a very thorough job of it (perhaps a warning shot to make people think twice about modding systems?). If it's an unexpected bug with the Fall Update, it seems convenient that it's happening primarily to modded systems.

Still, the few reports of the Fall Update bricking unmodded systems are troubling. While fixing the system might be an easy thing for people who cracked their systems open in the first place to mod them, it's still not something the average gamer is bound to be capable of doing.

Whether intentional or not, it seems the Fall Update is turning some Xbox 360s into paperweights. But with varying reports about who it's happening to and why, and Microsoft not explaining what's going on, there's no sure way to say which 360s will be affected by the problem.

I dont mod, so Ive had no problems. And I dont have any sympathy for modders, so I dont care that they do this. lol

Here is how its going to go down with the new systems

2007.
the Xbox will be the leader for 2007 it already has a large fan base in USA and england(but the rest of the world hates it) Followed closely by the Wii becuase it is cheap and inovative and don't forget the power of the nintindo brand name and how popular mario is all over the world. The PS3 will trail becuase of expensive cost and the graphic don't blow away the competition.

2008.
The PS3 will lead this year becuase it will start to maxamize its potintal. Xbox360 wont be able to hang graphicly so it will anounce its new system which will be released in late 2009 early 2010. Wii will still be stong due to the fact its cheap and everyone love mario.

This is how I think it will go down. I maybe wrong I maybe right. what I do know is that Xbox360 doesn't sale anyware but the US and England so it can't gain a global control were the wii and PS3 will be globally imbraced. The Wii wont compete with the PS3 in the long run becuase of graphical limitations. Once the PS3 has it's first price drop thats when i predect they will take the lead.

2007 your are correct but 2008.... 😂

Why would Microsoft anounce a new console in 2008, that would mean after 2 years of XBOX 360 they would let the world know its no longer a good console? Get real man. XBOX360 wont hang graphically...? We havent even seen a game that has mastered what the 360 has to offer, in fact the only thing developers have gotten used to is the graphics and they still havent perfected it either. I havent seen any proof that only US and England love the 360 either, as far as I know everyone but Japan loves the 360 especially when as of right now they have sold 6 million consoles. The PS3 will have a price drop but dont expect that anytime soon either.

First Virtual Console games....

While Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo are asking gamers to shell out for the next-generation of gaming experiences, all three companies recognize that there are a number of people willing to spend money on previous generations' gaming experiences as well. Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade has been offering retro titles since the system launched last year, and Sony recently detailed its plans to offer original PlayStation games for download on the PlayStation 3.

Nintendo had already announced the Virtual Console and some of its publishing partners, but today the company laid out the first wave of titles, 30 in all, to be available by the end of the year. The games (listed in full below) will come from Nintendo, Sega, and Hudson.

The company also reiterated the starting price points for the games, noting that NES games start at 500 Wii Points ($5), TurboGrafx-16 games at 600 Wii Points ($6), Super NES and Sega Genesis games at 800 Wii Points ($8), and Nintendo 64 games at 1,000 Wii Points ($10). Wii Points will be available online or at retail in packs of 2,000 with a suggested price of $20.

Anata Wa Wakarimasu Ka.....

Is that Mario Bros. as in the two bros fighting in the pipelines with the POW block and everything? Potentially misleading, that...

So my roster of VC games from day one will (hopefully) include:

Donkey Kong
F-Zero
Super Mario 64
Sonic the Hedgehog
Gunstar Heroes

That doesn't look like more than $30 worth of points, if I remember correctly...

I didnt know Wario was around in the NES days, I thought he was a more recent character.

Still a good Mario vs. Luigi game all the same.

My sister and I cracked up playing that game. The one that came with Super Mario World for the GBA that is.

I think so, cuz "SUPER Mario Bros." is the sidescroller.

I have been hearing that Sony fhucked themselves with ps3 having a $600 price tag and the whole blu-ray thing. Is it that bad?

Last night I read one of my old gaming mags and I found an interresting article about PS2 where Sony totally over hyped their new product's capabilities with demo vids with WATER with REFLECTIONS (real time graphics), have anyone seen something like that in any PS2 game? I'll kill the one who says they've seen it in an pre-rendered cutscene 😬

I'm starting to have doubts about PS3's 😬

Excellent synopsis, however I do not concur --

My summary:

2007

Nintendo will be in the lead, and continue to create a gaming "revolution" with its innovative Wii system. Their ingenious marketing scheme will be successful in reaching across all demographics, not just the core one which consists of 16 - 30 year old males.

Microsoft will be in a close 2nd, being the console predominantly sought after by the hardcore gaming enthusiast.

And Sony will be in a distant 3rd, due to poor marketing and lack of creative vicissitudes in their system.

2008

Wii will continue to lead the gaming industry. Both Sony and Microsoft will have mock Wii-mote controllers out on the market in an attempt to appease the ever-changing appettite of the gaming consumer.

Not at all. Nothing wrong with a system so expensive that you could literally buy it's competition (A Basic 360 and a Wii) for $550, for the less than the $600.
