Last-Gen Console Discussions (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii)

Revolution was the CODE-name, while Wii is the official name.

The same thing goes for Game cube being code-named Dolphin back in 98-99.

"Wii" is one of those names that has settled down over time; less ridiculous now than when first heard. Never going to be the coolest name on the block biut really not that iobjectionable.

Nintendo comments regarding the poor translation of Revolution- a name that only sounded cool in some languages, and there only being protest because the chief of those was English- is fair enough, as is their claim building on that that 'Wii; is far more multinational, and I rather like the way they have pushed the "Get over it" strategy.

...I don't know, maybe I don't dig stupid puns just as much as you do.

So far only one person given their opinion and hes right. You dont have to get all upset because I or someone else asks a question. If you dont want your opinion challenged then dont post it. The Wii is as Ush says is multinational, also IMO through in that Wii also heard as Wee means it can translate to mean a group of people getting together to have fun.

Oh it's not objectable..just ridiculous. For all I care they could have called it "piece of shit" ..it's apparently a good platform and that's all that really counts, isn't it. Just a shit name to me.

I can understand why Nintendo changed Revolution, but "Wii" will never be fully accepted by a more mature demographic in America.

I don't think it was such a good idea for Nintendo if they wish to attract an older audience.

Who cares about names, because as of right now Wii is the only one not to have had problems. 360 freezing last year, and Ps3 not being able to play Ps1 or Ps2 games, it's ridiculous.

Actually, some dead Wii's were shipped that required a Start-Up disk to load properly, and Nintendo decided they weren't going to be shipping the disks.

All consoles/electronics ship with problems at the beginning. It's natural.

Yeah they should have just through a number behind Gamecube or something. Heck I didn't like the name Wii at first but I grew use to it and enjoy the Wii very much.

My friend got carpal-tunnel playing Resistance Fall of Man for an hour or so.

I don't recall any problems for Nintendo 64 or Game Cube.

Yeah, but send it back to Nintendo and they'll replace it.

And compared with the number of issues with other systems...I'd say that's pretty damn small.

I wouldn't say that's a problem with the console. They weren't dead.

They were just the demo consoles that were shipped accidentally that weren't meant for the public.

Not a problem with the console. Just human error.

Still a problem at launch. 😬

its dumb how everyone is bashing Wii just because of the name

i own it and it is an amazing console

i have played all 3 now and i still have to say the wii is the best

i waited in line for my Wii for 15 hours, and there were probably 14 other adults in line, nobody skips out on a console just because of the name

I haven't heard anyone say anything negative about the name in months. 😕

not saying particulary on here

anywhere

Yeah, exactly.

Yeah, you're right. A problem with at launch, but not with the console. It did what it was suppose to do.

SON OF A B!TCH WHY DID YOU CLOSE MY THREAD

Watch your mouth! You do NOT talk like that to people!

Because we have a thread for all next-gen discussions, that's why. Duplicate threads are not allowed.

I have successfully found a cheaper solution to the XBOX360 Wireless adaptor.
