Most likely a conscience thing. It happened to me when I bought a PS2 in early 2002. I was like "I can't really afford this right now, what am I doing?" I returned it, but bought one like a month and a half later.

I would imagine many did the same.

I'm getting a Ps3 for several rightful reasons (I don't know when, but invevitably)

1. Backwards compatibilty: You want the door to my heart thats always an awesome feature. I own a bizzillion Ps1/Ps2 games

2. Metal gear Solid 4, GTA 4, Killzone 2, Elder scrolls, Final fantasy 13 etc....

3. Functionality with my Psp

4. The thing has all of the bells and whistles.

It expensive, I know. But this shit ball is only going higher guys.

Sony proved that people have no problem paying $300 for a Ps2, Xbox followed suit with that and then proved that people have no problem paying $400 for a 360, and (from my POV) anyway, Sony proved people have no problem paying $600 for a PS3.

I don't know but we had 83 last sunday and F'ers went out pretty fast. Not totally sold, but I think 65 or sold within an hour.

That would be a good thing, if, you know, it actually played the games well. As it is, a ton of games aren't supported, and the ones that are look worse on the PS3 than they do on the PS2.

None of which happen to be out yet. If these are the games you wanted a PS3 for, why buy the system now instead of waiting for what you want to actually exist?

Bells and whistles are nice, sure, but it's sort of missing the core functionality: playing games. Oh, wait, I forgot, this isn't a video game system, it's a "multimedia solution." Because it works just like the computer you already have. Thus, you need to buy this to have another machine that does the same thing!

Oh, and a fun bit from an interview with Hideo Kojima (A.K.A. the MGS guy):

"You may hear Blu-ray is huge, gigantic, 20 GB or so, but that's not really that big to us. One basic [gameplay] with HD visual and 5.1 sound takes up so much space that the capacity will become too small in no time."

So what does he think about Wii?

"Wii! [laughs] Yes, I want to do it. I'm saying this everyday. But first, I have to face this giant that is called Metal Gear Solid 4, so until I'm finished with that, I can't do anything."

But Wii does not support HD...

"We're not the ones who are saying we want HD. I'm not interested, myself, about HD at all. MGS games tend not to care about how clean the screen looks... we deliberately make the graphics look dirtier to give the atmosphere more life."

I'd also like to point out that GTA4 is NOT going to be a PS3 exclusive, and Elder Scrolls will be a port.

That's interesting, because the PS3 had such an underwhelming launch, and the Wii has outsold it nearly three times over. Don't know where you're getting the idea that "people have no problem paying $600" for a console.

Yeah, only if they can resell those consoles at a higher price. That's where most of the PS3's bought went, eBay, and even then they aren't selling at even retail price any more.

Is that why I cant find a Wii, but heck, I could of bought the PS3 atleast 20 times in the past week.

I would buy a PS3 for $600.00. However, all that money is already been used buying games for my 360, DS lite, future Wii, Comic books, DVD's, food, PC upgrades, Warhammer, Conventions, Movie tickets, Collectible action figures, etc...ETC....

Yeah, I can definitely think of a hell of a lot of things I'd rather put $600 towards than a PS3.
