Let's see you manufacture enough consoles to meet demand...if you want it to be done right it takes time. It's not that Nintendo is doing it on purpose, they are just selling like hotcakes and still not over saturating the market.XBox 360 was hard to come by at first was it not? Check and Mate... Be patient.
The 360 had new top of the line technology and components, the CPU and Graphics chip were both high end stuff, it takes longer to produce highend components. The Wii has much much older components, a CPU and graphics chip that have more in common with last gen then gen-now, Nintendo should have a much easier time than Sony or MS when it comes to stocking the systems, they should be quick and cheap to make, unlike the PS3 and the 360.
Plus, Nintendo isn't foreign to creating, or at least enchancing shortages. They did it for the N64, they did it with The Twilight Princess, and for all I know they're doing it with the Wii.
You really think a multibillion dollar corperation like Nintendo can't up the production speed if they really wanted to? I'm not saying they're witholding consoles or intentionally going overly slow, just that they're probably not concerned about meeting demand. With shortages come hype, with hype comes demand, and with demand comes money. It makes sense in a business sense, but as a consumer who's been trying to find a Wii for near two months now, it's unacceptable and annoying, not to mention questionable since the Wii uses dated technology that should be available in abundance.
