Yoshi's Island 2 - NDS (Nintendo)
Call of Duty 3 - PS2 (Activision)In most cases you get what you pay for, and that statement holds true for the wii. You pay less you get less, I'm willing to pay more and get more with both xbox360 and ps3.
How much longer will that remain the case, though?
Not long at all. Sony's going to start concentrating more on the PS3 and less and less on the PS2. I'll give the PS2 another year, year and a half tops, because Sony closes the doors on it. Xbox is already officially a dead system a year after the 360 came out, and the PS2's lifespan is at it's end.
Me, I'd rather pay less and get what I want.

Back to my question, Wii has 3 months on store shelves with about 36 titles while PS2 has about 6 years plus tons of games for it.
Again I ask what does last Gen have to do with this Gen. Why not compare Wii and PS3... because at the moment Wii is kicking PS3 @ss with 4 million units over 1 million. If your gonna make comparisons they should at least be fair.

It's only overpriced becuase it has no software for it yet. But when it gets a greater number of good games that acctually do what they claim the machine can do then it won't seem so over priced. That is "if" the system can do what they say it can. If not everyones getting robed.
The sales list backs up the fact that Nintendo isn't leading the console market the PS2 is still leading the market. And the wii could have 8 million sales and it would still be behind the Xbox which has 10 million. The Wii is not winning the new console war as of yet.

I was just pointing out that Nintindo isn't leading the console market. And Fine I'll be fair Xbox360 10 million sales Wii 4 million. Again Wii is not winning yet.

And by telling us that Wii isnt winning, which everyone can clearly see by the way, you are trying to accomplish...?

No, it will still be overpriced. The cost of the technology means that it has had to be priced far higher than Sony would have wanted it.
HD games will not be THAT proportion better, not by a long shot.
Err, the list doesn't actually back up your assertion that the PS2 leads the market at all! It merely shows the PS2, a hugely established console, is still selling- duh- whilst showing the exceptional sales performance of a console one month old at that point.
ESB's post was simply espousing the view that Nintendo are starting to win the next generation battle. This may or may not be so but the presented point was well made.

"Nintendo owns in the console/handheld markets! Take that Sony!! Take that Microsoft!!!" yep you are correct this is a statment that means Nintendo is starting to win the Next gen battle. he said that Nintendo OWNS the console market and he is wrong.
They are just taping into the HD world who knows what advancement are in store, but what ever they are Nintindo wont be seeing them.

Proportionalize those numbers, though. 4 million in 2 months vs. 10 million in 14 months.
But you can't say the speed of sale will continue at the same rate. The Wii did have the best launch that I have ever seen but the launch isn't a very good way to foreshadow the final total of sales.

So why are you comparing PS2 to the Wii if it "isn't a very good way to foreshadow the final total of sales"?

that makes no since.
And I was just point out that nintindo isn't leading the market like he claimed. I wasn't compairing the two just to simply state that PS2 still holds the market right now, and after the PS2 is the Xbox360. The wii is in second to last right now.

I think the best so far was when someone tried to ***** me out (trying to blame me for her stupidity) and then left, and my manager was like "feel free to go take lunch now" so I wouldn't have to (and couldn't) deal with her when she came back 😂
just as bad though..this guy on ign forums asks us wether apple made the wii or not..he didnt get mad though
Despite the fact PS2 is a last gen system, the fact still remains, it is selling, and selling well, regardless of how old it is, therefore you have to take into consideration that it cannot be disregarded in anyway, unless you see next gen as shiny graphics and cool new accessories.
It is a last gen system that has continued into this gen, it has yet to die, and if the price continues to drop, and devs continue making cheap to develop games for it, there is no reason why it can't stick around and still sell well over the next couple of years, don't disregard it because its a last gen system. Thats like disregarding the DS as soon as the DS replacer releases. Once a console is selling and keeping up with other more modern day consoles, it will always be seen as a competitor.
Once a potential gamer sees the listings of consoles and picks up a PS2 because of its large game base and cheap price, it is still in competition. Only when it has officially died such as Dreamcast, PS1, Xbox, Nintendo 64 and other titles does it get disregarded, until then, it is staying right up there.
However, it depends on how you are comparing, if you are looking at the overall sales, then it doesn't take Einstien to work out the PS2 sold more its been out ages, so stop bringing that up, but if you are looking at monthly sales, this is the proof that the PS2 is still in competition or not, if it is outselling other consoles each month (excluding the PS3 and Wii which are currently not fully in retail yet). Theres your explaination people.
I'm off to bed, some people actually get sleep...
Next generation gaming is new graphcis, and new accessories. That's why its next generation.
PS2 is continue to sell well, but next year, you will an significant drop in sales once the PS3 hits its groove, well Sony should hope that it drops down because if it doesnt, it will seriously hurt the company finacially.

At least you have the common sense to realize why the PS2 is selling more than some other consoles unlike Dirk who leaves wholes in his "equations".
However a year from now when SONY stops PS2 production and focuses on PS3 then we will see who can maintain those monthly sellers.
Sony won't stop PS2 production unless they see a drop in sales, and there won't be a drop in sales as long as Sony keeps dropping the price, I have lots of friends and little cousins that cannot afford the PS3 but would love to have a PS2 if it was very cheap. Its not as if you'll be casted out of the crowd for having a last gen system, the graphics aren't that drastically dated, and if you think like that, then you are just plain stupid and obnoxious.
I can't see the PS2 ceasing to exist any time soon, at least not until the PS3 starts replacing the PS2 with sequels that make the originals look petty. There is still loads of reasons to pick up a PS2, free online, loads of gamers still playing those games online, loads of great games and thousands more of pretty good games, cheap price to even beat the price of that of Wii, the ability to add Linux and other (pointless in my opinion) accessories as you desire, plus the famous memory card, highly practical, the ablity to play PS1 games (If you really want to go that far back), quite frankly, I have my PS2, have made no effort to get a next gen system, and am still having the same amount of fun you lot are having on your Wiis, PS3s and 360s, fun doesn't come in ratings, there is no limit or fun bar. Like I said, if shiny graphics mean nothing to you, you can still have a great amount of fun on any console, heck, just having my gorgeous gf and my PS2 is enough to keep me going until I decide to pick up a next gen, or a next next gen system. When I get bored of my PS2, I've got my gf, when I get bored of her nagging, I've got PS2, see 😉 lol
Besides, who needs shiny DOA graphics when you've got a beautiful girlfriend to love and kiss in real life, huh?

It was a reasonable thing to say about Nintendo's performance over Christmas. Handheld domination and incredibly successful new console launch. It is really not very controversial at all.
And meanwhile, so what? other consoles won't be seeing some of the things Nintendo are doing. Again, the proportionate price difference is never going to be reflected in quality, even if you are shallow enough to be convinced onlu by graphics.
Meanwhile, why can't you make a link between launch sales and later sales? I'll bet you that if you compare earlier launches to later sales you could find a link. How much did the 360 sell in two months?
