VF5 sux, I remain under impressed by this game, at first I thought it was a major loss for the PS3, now I couldn't care less. It looks to be just another generic fighter with shiny graphics, theres no damage to enviroments, thier clothes don't get wet upon falling in water, in fact, the dynamics of the water are rather pathetic, it hardly ripples when the move about in it, the water on PSP Tekken 5 looks more realistic, lol.
The snow (like it would in real life) doesn't slow down their movement despite how high and thick it is, WTF? I hope Tekken 6 is nothing like this.
Motorstorm looks okay, not spectacular, just...okay. But I'm excited about white knight, and I hope a God of war 3 materialises, I'd be the first one in the European queue to get that 🙂
For the moment, I'm looking forward to a few titles, 2 of which are Wipeout and ZOE3.
God of War 3 wont come out for atleast 4 years.
VF5 is known to be the best figher out there, especially if you like tatical fighters. They'res a massive following in Japan for VF5.
All those things you say would be cool, but that really isnt what fighers are about, and you can bet your ass that Tekken 6 wont have any of those things that you mention.
Originally posted by SmasandianIf it has snow or water levels at all, VF5 just does little to get me excited, and so far it seems to be the same opinion of many others. It is just a VF4.5 more like. Best fighter to whom? Its great no doubt, but it isn't the best end of, it does just as well as Soul calibur and Tekken, only Tekken 4 was a disgrace, all others have shown marvels of a fighting genre. I would know, I adore fighters and have all that was available for PS2. However, VF5 I expected more from, but its turned out to be, just another VF4 with 360 lookalike graphics. Gameplay looks the same, characters look the same and the effort to emphasise dynamics is rather lackluster.

(GOW3 may come out earlier, can't really put a time on it, considering the first GOW came out but only two or so years ago. I remember buying it upon release after playing the amazing demo.)
If a fighter isn't about learning moves, and working your way around your enviroment, what exactly is a fighter about? Don't you think by making the character move slower in snow it would force you to try various other tactics in order to achieve certain moves or beat you opponent? Isn't that what next gen is about? Improvements? Not just graphically enhanced and left at that, its a chance to futher develop a game, its physics, its gameplay, its dynamics, to a vast extent, but I think Sega was kinda lazy with this game. Maybe its the inexperience with the PS3, maybe its because they already had an idea they may go multiplat, who knows, I just think the game based on what I have seen so far fails to impress me, even Wii's new Mortal Kombat game looks more innovative and appealing. And all it is is an abandoning of regular button mashing for Wiimote swinging to pull off moves.
Everyone has different opinions on games, what may be the best to you may not be the best to me, and as much as I adore fighters, I doubt this is a reason I would pick up a PS3, if I wanted this kind of gameplay, I'd go pick up DOA. I played this before, and I'll only feel as if I'm replaying it all over again with shinier graphics. If thats the case, I might as well stick with VF4, its not as if I'm missing out on anything much from VF5.
Have you played VF5?
DOA, if I'm not mistaken is an glorifired button masher, while VF5 isnt.
A fighter is about learning moves, and that's what VF5 is exactly. They even have an frame locker to lock the frames of the screen to see exactly how fast and how far the animation takes each individual kick. That seems pretty crazy too me.
One thing about snow, and if you want to be realistic as possible, as you say you want, every single action you take is slow and cumbersome. All you would accomplish in a game would make the gameplay boring as hell, and well, you cant have you kicks land because obviously, the snow is slippery and the character will slip while doing the various kicks. And well, you cant jump very well, because of the footing of the character. Actually, you be surpraised about the amount of things the character's will do if the snow was realistically portrayed. So pretty much, the game will end up being an punch of thon where you just hit the punch button because anything else you do, you would slip. Considering this a game, thats not very fun at all. Fighters are not suppose to be completetly realistic, they're suppose to be fun.

The game is meant to be fun, but has Tekken 4 prooved to us, we like development, we like to know that the next GT installment looks and plays better then GT4, we like to know that the next Halo isn't a repeat of Halo 2 with better graphics, how would you feel if Halo 3 was basically Halo 2 with better graphics, and Bungie's excuse was that its the shooting and tactics that counts, not the development, do you know how lame that would sound?
Of course I haven't played the game yet, I am just basing my opinion on a video, but if the video is a mere example of the real game, it could change again depending on what else is included, I mena the concept of create a character seems somewhat appealing, other then that, I can't really see anything else to get hyped about considering I have VF4. The game (seen in the video) pretty much plays the same, and the graphical enhancement has really done the game no favours except to give it a glossier finish. With new graphics comes the ability to do things with new graphics you couldn't before, this is the only reason I deem graphics important in any game.
It's hard to judge a game so harshly based on a video. I have always been a fan of the VF series because it's not a button mashing fighter like soul caliber. All your complaints on the game are small and insignificant you are just nit picking on details that won’t affect the game play that much.
If you held DOA or any other fighting game to same nit picky standers you would never have a game you like.

I'm pretty sure I know what snow is, and let me tell you after countless games of tackle football in the park, snow isnt very fun for an timed based, quick thinking and quick movement of a game. Anyways, it doesnt really matter, just overall VF5 is known to be a great fighter that takes massive amount of skill to play. It's huge in Japan arcades for that reason. You cant even play any of the old games anymore, (or they're stuck in the dirty back corner)
I just dont think the fighters are meant to be innovating every single time and some snow will not do that. It will make very annoying.
Sony fixed PS2/Ps1 "jaggies" problem on the Ps3 with a firmware update yesterday.
I know a lot of you don't give an F, but I thought I'd mention it.
There was a whole thread of over 1000's posts in under 2 months discussing the problem at playstation.com forums. Now everyone is happy that they can play Final fantasy 12 and whole slew of stuff that was affected by the glitch.
More analysts pick PS3 to win the console war...
