360 and a Wii.

Hey, I plan on getting a Wii this Christmas or early '08. Now, should I get a PS3 or an Xbox 360? I'm leaning towards the 360, but it won't have RE 5 on it, nor will it have MGS 4, the first Metal Gear I'm willing to go out of my way to play.

I would get an Xbox 360 first.

The PS3 will improve in time. Most noticeably in the summer with five hot releases.

In the fall is when it will REALLY pick up with DMC4 and MGS4 (I think it comes then....)

I would also wait on the Wii until the Mario and SSMB game comes out. There are no "must have" games besides Zelda. If you already have a Gamecube, there's really no incentive to buy it unless you REALLY want to experience Zelda with a Wii controller for $250...

I would wait on the PS3 and the Wii until the major hits come out. That's what I'm doing anyway...

As much as Draco tends to annoy me here, I have to agree on this. The Wii isn't going to be stellar until there's a decent amount of first party Nintendo franchise games.

Go for the 360, for now, at least.

PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS! Alright I know this isnt a game thread, but i desperately need a good answer to this. And only from peopel who own a 360 please.

I want to get a 360, but Ive heard it messes up a lot from some people, and other people have no trouble. If I get it I will get the premium thing. There is a extended warranty option and the cooling fan and stuff, but what do i need to ensure that it works or gets a refund for it if it breaks. I dont want to spend a lot of money because iti s already expensive. Also, does putting it upright instead of on the ground stop it from overheating more? Thanks! 😉

I own a 360. Got mine back in spring of 2006.

Here is what happen...certain 360s from late 2005 had a 3 ring problem. MS decided to repair most of them. Only thing the owner had to do was mail the console to the repair center.

Certain consoles that were made between Nov. 05 and June 06 encounter the same issue. In late 06 MS expanded the warranty for everyone (including those whose warranty had expire)

Most of the consoles that were sent for repair weren't actually repair. MS send the owners a refurbish Xbox 360. Which in most cases worked just fine. Recently, the people consider buying a 360, are told that before purchasing the console to check the date it was made (you can see this by looking at the back of the 360).

If you buy a 360 make sure it was made somewhere in late 06 or early 07. Get a warranty...it's always the safest thing to do. Hope that helps ya.

As for overheating issues...you can only check for that during game time. If it overheats...but a Nyko Cooling fan. It's only $19.99. Buy it, only if feel is necessary. As for what's the position...whether vertical or horizontal..as long as the console gets enough ventilation it should do fine.

Yes, I believe most of the problems have been sorted out, any 360 you now purchase should be fine, and it comes with a 3 month warranty out of the box, if you wish you can purchase another one through whichever store you purchase it at which lasts one year.

Standing makes no difference than sitting, if a console is going to break, it's going to break, regardless.

I must say, despite problems, Xbox has great customer service. lol

Hey,
does any one know if there is away to connect up my xbox 360 to a computer screen (screen is new dell) so i can play games on a computer not on a tv

Wii Pwn3ds the competition

w00t
Huzzah!

wii only out sold the ps3 2 to 1 I thought it would be higher than that but I guess it's due to the limited suply.

What?

Only 2 to 1? Hahahah, you make it sound like that doesnt mean much.

Almost 2 to 1 means quite a bit when that "1" is nearly 250,000 units.

id like to know that as well, one of my games doesnt fit all the image onto the tv and its a soccer game so it sort of makes a huge difference that i cant see the field.

It doesn't mean that much, they could be 4 to 1 easy if they could supply the demand better.

The Wii is huge right now and it might not be as huge in the future with the PS3 and xbox both release more advanced games so they should be trying to up there manufacturing a lot so there lead is more set in stone. If they shot out 5 million wii’s right now I bet all 5 million would sell with in the week but they aren’t shooting out 5 millions weeks.

If you don't supply the demand the demand might go away.

Buy the Microsoft made VGA cable for 19 $ instead, that's what I'm using and it's definitely worth it.

No shocker here folks.

Mercenaries 2 will be available for multi-platform. Gamespot confirmed the story.

When it was first announced at last year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, the sequel to the 2005 cult hit Mercenaries was billed as a PlayStation 3 exclusive, a fact once again confirmed by developer Pandemic earlier this month.

However, Mercenaries 2: World In Flames has now officially gone the way of other former PS3 exclusives Assassin's Creed, Fatal Inertia, GTA IV, and BladeStorm: The Hundred Years' War--the title will now be multi-format as opposed to a Sony platform exclusive.

Mercenaries 2 is set for a "simultaneous global release" during the 2007 holiday season, on the Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 2, along with the already confirmed PlayStation 3.

The action adventure game has players step into the shoes of a series of hardened bounty hunters tasked with solving some nasty problems. Whereas the first game took place in North Korea, the sequel is set in Venezuela.

Pandemic Studios CEO Andrew Goldman commented on the decision to make the game multiplatform only by saying, "All four platforms are incredible gaming machines." He also added that although the title had been previously thought to be PS3-exclusive, it had infact been designed "from the beginning [as] an experience that accentuates their [platforms'] different strengths."
