So what does everybody think of the whole PS3 new online service?
The link,
I think it would be cool, but I would never use it. So I really dont care that much.
Yeah,
Joystiq had an interesting notion that Playstation home is going to be an haven for cyber sex with its "realistic avatars", private spaces and customization. I thought it was pretty funny.
I think its an interesting idea but for me, pretty much pointless. I get consoles to play games, not to watch trailers of movies coming out. No matter how cool it is, I have a computer that does all that stuff.
Yeah, I saw a clip of it in action on TV earlier tonight and they were saying how you can impress your friends with your custom homes that you furnish yourself and invite friends over and then they showed like 3 avatars at someone's house just standing there dancing.
I don't see people buying a PS3 to just make an avatar, take it to someone's house and watch it dance and to design houses and stuff. They can do all of that on the Sims.
Nice idea, but it's been done and I don't think that's what PS3 owners are looking for.
anata wa wakarimasu ka.....
I think it's an interesting online setup using (or copying) the Sims setup. (ACTUALLY IT'S COPYING SECOND LIFE which has an ENORMOUS online community) It has tremendous potential and it's a unique way to interact online with other people. I foresee it being a rather big hit in Japan and Europe since they worship this type of stuff.
Mixing and mashing the Xbox Live setup with the Sims setup may prove to be very successful for the PS3.
Also the AIM setup is extremely popular anywhere so...
I think it's gonna be very big. You can go to the mall to buy old ps1 games or download new PS3 games. Or go the movie theatre to watch a HD movie at a scheduled time for a certain amount of PS points.
It's an entire online world that's similar to the Sims but much, much bigger and available with real content rather than fake ones.
Considering Japan is full of cyberphiles I anticipate this will be be very successful.
For people who haven't seen it here's the trailer:

It's an accessory for a console. Much like Xbox Live or Mii. People won't certainly buy ANY console for just these features but Playstation Home does make it seem more advanced than the other consoles to the casual eye.
People like customization. People like online interaction. People like Myspace. Playstation Home seems to seamlessly integrate all the popular online trends (like Myspace) on to a console and make it seem next-generation with ala Second-Life visuals.
It's certainly something that sets it apart from the other consoles' online caches like Live and Mii. They don't have anything like this. Much like the Wii did with their controller.
If they market it right, keep it free, make sure there's no lag and target it towards the right audience, this could become the next online phenomenon.
I personally thinks it's very cool. A feature that makes the PS3 feel like it's next-generation.
If I ever use this feature, I call dibs on the suite! 😠

It's basically Xbox Acheivements....expect a hell of lot better looking.
One mod, and maybe the presence of other out of area threads will have to be looked into.
The place for VG threads is here. If certain VG threads are not allowed, then that's it. You don't get to use other places as a resort to stick any thread you like. That's not how it works. Threads go in their correct places. The rules are clear on this.
Matrix threads don't go in the Star Wars area. Artwork does not go in the sports forum. And computer game threads do not get snuck into a comic book area.
It's only open right now as I discuss the situation with digi. Then it will close.

Why do you want my thread closed?🙁
