A nice trend I've been noticing with these cross-platform games is that the Wii really does seem to have an inherent fun factor going for it.
For example, reviewers are recommending the Wii's Blackhand Edition of the Godfather over the PS3 Don's Edition not because of any technical differences or more material, but simply because the Wii controls are more fun.
Here's hoping more Wii cross-platform games take this Godfather approach, instead of the half-assed Prince of Persia approach.
This is truly sad for SONY... they have released the BC list for the Euro launch and it seems the biggest titles have "noticeable issues" while the least favourites work fine.

Sony releases Euro PS3 backwards-compatibility list
Prospective PlayStation 3 owners can now check online to see which PS2 titles will be playable after firmware upgrade.

One of the big issues around the launch of Sony's next-generation console in Europe has been that of how many PlayStation 2 titles would be playable after the removal of the Emotion Engine from the PlayStation 3. Sony has now sought to answer that question with the launch of a Web site that lists all playable titles.
The PlayStation 3 launches on Friday, March 23, in Europe and will require a firmware upgrade (to version 1.60) in order to play the games listed on the Sony site. The upgrade will be available from midnight on Thursday on both the PlayStation Network and PlayStation.com. It will also be available on a disc for those without Internet access, according to Sony's statement today.
According to "semi-official" blog Three Speech, 1,782 out of 2,451 PS2 games available in the SCEE region will work on the PS3. Sony's database uses a rating system where three squares mean that the game works with "no known issues to date," two squares mean that the game will play on the PS3 with "some minor issues," and one square means the game will work but with "noticeable" issues. Games which are not on the list do not currently work with the PS3.
Games which will work with the first firmware update, 1.60, include The Sims, The Sims 2, Half-Life, God of War, Quake 3, Cars, and Dragon Quest VII: Journey of the Cursed King. Games which will play with "noticeable issues" include Final Fantasy X, Metal Gear Solid 3, Kingdom Hearts, Canis Canem Edit (Bully in the US), many of the Need for Speed Titles, FIFA 07, and Pro Evolution Soccer 4, 5, and 6.
Titles which do not currently work at all include Guitar Hero I and II, Tekken Tag Tournament, Test Drive Unlimited, Black, and Hitman: Blood Money.
David Reeves, president of SCEE, said in a statement: "Our engineers have been working overtime, and have succeeded in delivering a significant number of playable PS2 titles for the European launch. We will be adding additional titles to this list in future firmware upgrades, but as we have made clear before, in the future our resources will be increasingly focused on developing new services and entertainment features exclusively for PS3, rather than on delivering PS2 backwards compatibility."

Prince of Persia: Rival Swords was just given simplistic motion controls, and for some reason toned the game down (no blood, and the speed kills are heavily edited). Aside from that, everything was the same as the old Gamecube release.
The Godfather: Blackhand Edition revamps the fighting controls completely. I think it's something like 25 different interactive motions for hand-to-hand combat, ranging from grabbing a man by his collar and tossing him through a window to swinging a shovel to headbutts. There are also a ton of new missions, effectively doubling the game's length.

I think thats going to be a problem for the Wii. Half assed ports. Some will be good, but this months EGM, alot of them look like shit. Heck, some of them are PSP ports (ewwwww)
And unfornately, for at least a little while that's going to be what the Wii gets. You can practically feel how the developers scrambled to get some of these "Wii-makes" onto the console before summer.
I suppose we'll have to wait for the Wii-intended games to be finished and developers to find a control scheme they like before good Wii-makes become more common.
Hopefully. What I'm exicted over is the eventual replacement. An HD Wii. That would be totally awesome.
Anyways, more bad news for PS3. Ace Combat 6 is an XBOX 360 game, but not just a game, but an exclusive game too. They're not releasing Ace Combat 6 for the PS3 at all.

I know its not as big as DMC4, but still, another game that was on the PS, and no, never again (well, you never know)

Heh, my brother will be happy to hear that, he loves the Ace Combat games and we're planning on getting a 360 together once we have a Wii.
Good Lord, even a PC can emulate Final Fantasy X with 'noticeable' issues. Surely the damn PS3 can do it better?

Meanwhile, those of us in Europe are really stuffed on waiting for Wii stuff. We got the original stuff just two weeks after the US and Japan. But now, the next wave has not yet even come out in the US yet, and for us, it will be the normal three to six month wait after that. GAH!
i honestly dont believe sony has lost the race just yet...as long as it keeps square in its pockets sony will have a rather large fan base...and despite the price...(yes in spite of the price) once the sequels to all of the other games release...give it a year or so and i think sony will be back in it to win it....sony is just in tough spot.

Well, that's more or less true. As I pointed out a long time ago, even if the PS2 had sold half as much and other consoles had sold twice as much, the PS2 would still have been the highest selling console (ignoring handhelds).
So from that position it would be completely ludicrous for Sony to completely lose its edge, even with all these various issues.
The point is that they will no longer be the invulnerable Kings they once were. For a time, people even considered single format console gaming as desirable, and the format would be Sony.
They've screwed that.
