well, then must they must be given out unevenly because ALL of the stores in NY have Wii's this one toy r us had like 80 and the "Nintendo" store had like over a hundred while there are quite a few in atlanta, but my cousin in texas says she hasnt seen a wii in stores since launch january. and when they come there gone in like 20 minutes

i thought that wii had already been confirmed the top system as of so far, same with th ds. am i misinformed?

I can confirm your cousin there. The whole of San Antonio can't keep Wii's in stock for an hour, let alone a day.

See, the thing is, people saying "this store hasn't had a shipment in so many weeks"...the stores are NOT going to honestly tell you when they last had a shipment, or when they think they can expect another, or how many they think they'll get. It's a security risk.

And hey, me working in a video game store? Only seen 2 Wiis since launch. And I usually start work within a couple hours of when we get shipments. One of my friends managed to get to Best Buy when they had some; they had 6 when she walked in the door and none by the time she left. That's how fast they're going in Chicago.

I dont hate Nintendo, and I'm still going to buy an system. I just dont think Nintendo should be doing this. If they're doing the whole, " create demand", then its going to backfire. The first two months is a good idea to do that but now, people are going all over the place to pick one up and sooner or later, people will just give up and not care anymore. I wouldnt be surpraised if alot of people would of bought an system on impulse. It could totally backfire.

I reckon Nintendo will do a big 'second push' on publicity for the Wii when new Mario comes out.

Meanwhile, the Wii has been outselling the PS3 by about three to one, so obviously the PS3 supply situation is more troublesome. (Note that that figure is a worldwide one, so includes the fact that PS3 has not actually been selling at all in Europe for the last four months. But as that was supply related as well, it's not an excuse)

Best estimates think the Wii total sales figures are about half that of what the 360 has reached. If their supply is really very restricted, then that's rather impressive. They'll be looking to beat 360 sales sooner than we might have thought.

What it looks like to me is that there IS an uneven number of Wii's being shipped out, because I got to Wal-mart at 9AM and I was the 1st in line, the second person got there about 20 minutes later, and then by 1030 the line was full, that wal-mart had 24 Wii's and to get one you had to wait over 12 hours, same went for the Target across the street, meanwhile my friend in Ohio went to a toys r us and waited in line for 30 minutes, the line wasnt even full by midnight, because they had ovber 50 Wii's (from what I heard)

I think that Nintendo has a problem that can be fixed easily and that the Wii will have better numbers than PS3 and 360 in the end

PS3 is launching in Europe in a couple days, right?

They did tell me though. I think store's employee's are getting sick and tired of people walking asking for an Wii, they pretty much just give you a card with the phone number for the store and ask to call in each day at 9:30 AM and ask if the shipments coming in.

They said last week that they're should be a shipment coming in this week because they havent gotten one in two weeks.

Yeah, PS3 releases in Europe on the 23rd of March.

Its being bundled at €750 which includes a game and an extra controller.

If you break down the PS3 into different parts you can see its actually quite a good price.

It has a 60GB hard drive and if you compare that to the 360's external hard drive which was only 20GB and costs €100!

It has a HDMI connection which the 360 is missing, so when playing my 360 I'm getting lower quality than what my TV could actually display.

It plays Blu-Ray discs, whereas on the 360, you have to pay €200 just for the privilege of playing HD-DVDs.

The games are the same price as 360 games so I'm not losing out there.

Though I'm not getting one at launch. I've learned from getting the 360 at launch, is that there just isn't any good games out in the first year until developers get to grip with the console.

I do remember someone saying that the PS3 hadn't got a game with better graphics than Gears of War, but alas, give PS3 the same amount it time it took for Gears of War to come out and then start your judging.

€750 is just about $1000.

Good lord.

And btw, the 360 DOES come with the harddrive and HDMI cables and such, if you get the premium one instead of the core system...

Oh, speaking of the 360's harddrive, apparently they're going to be releasing another version that has a much larger harddrive (well over 100GB, supposedly), or something like that? I'm not entirely sure, that's just something I heard about yesterday.

Yeah as far as I know that will be the black 360, its most probably the dev kit that developers are already using. It also has a HDMI connection.

*Though with the premium pack, its still an external harddrive.*

Though its not this HDMI connection in the premium pack??

XBOX 360's dont come with HDMI hookups. I dont even think they have HDMI hookups yet.

Only 750 pounds for an PS3, game and an extra controller.

In Canada, thats one sweet price of $1400 bucks. Yeah, totally worth the 1080p thats soo overrated.

Ehhh I was quoting in Euro, so it would be more like $1,176 Canadian dollars.

Well I wouldn't call 1080p overrated, more something you could live without for the time being.

Still expensive though 😄

I shall make this very simple:

No

It

Is

Not.

The price is horrendously high, no matter which way you cut it.

IM BACCKK! Been away for a while, will be like this for a while, busy period ^^

Played Wii, had fun, have to say, Wii sports wasn't as great as I expected, in fact it got boring after 5 minutes, but the rest of the games I played were great 🙂

I have yet to play a PS3 the last next gen console I need to try out, looking forward to it 🙂 Its releasing soon over here, everyone I know is picking one up, to be honest, its true, preorders haven't been filled, but retailers when spoken to say its simply down to the high price, otherwise interest in the console is extremely high. Its sort of like that luxury you wish you could have but is against or morales to buy unless you have the cash.

Doesn't matter either way, they people I really care about are getting one regardless. I have no money for any next gen console, but I am saving up 😉 Just borrowing from cool mates at the mo, I've had the Wii for just over 2 weeks now, I can return it when I feel like it, no rush ^^ My mate has 2, so its all good, he plans to resell this one on E-bay 🙁 I may convince him to buy it off him, but give him the money later, sort of an "IOU" thing 🙂

Anyway, I am getting ready to interview some PS3 waiters outside HMV, I doubt the launch will be anything of a disaster as it was in America, we English are quite civilized when it comes to waiting, you only have to look ay Harrods sales and Wii launch 🙂 As for thieveing, well, anyone stupid enough to strole through the likes of Hackney or Peckham the two most notorious for crime in London parts is just asking to be robbed, otherwise all should go well, I'll be popping into Croydon to see how those PS3 waiters are doing ^^

BTW, I'll be in America in a week 😛 I'll come by a few of you and take your 360s, PS3s and Wiis, lol, oh wait, America has drop dead cheap prices! Yay! Shopping spree!

erm ok
ive got my wi-fi USB connecter, but the wii "cant connect to the internet"
everythings perfect
firewalls off and all that
why isnt it working??

have you actually told the Wii to use it?

Whoops, I was totally thinking pounds....my fault...

But really, so its only 1200 CAD....wow still a great price.....

Yeah, it is. Go to any casual TV watcher and ask if they notice the difference between 1080i and 1080p and they wont notice. For an extra 200 bucks, I'm expecting great things for this 1080p upgrade....and its not there.

Not to point out the obvious but if they are casual tv watchers, are they going to have a tv that can actually display 1080p?

The price is high, yes, but not for what you get. That is what I am trying to get through.

Yeah, and thats my point that for the money, its pointless because the difference between the 360 and the PS3 are not worth the extra cash.
