Re: component cables. No, you don't need HD, though 480p through a Wii is only possble with component.
You DO need component input. There's no point putting component cables through three jacks; that would just make it composite again (Audio left, audio right, and all the colours composited together). It needs five (audio left, audio right, Red, Green, Blue).
But you might want to consider the following-
1. The component output on the best television you can get is not 500% better in picutre quality. You'll get some sharper colours but the difference is not enormous
2. On a non-HD tv, may as well get a SCART cable. Except they aren't widespread in the US... tsk tsk.
Yeah, I know it's not a ginormous difference, but there is a difference and I would like that difference.
Are you saying that on both High Definition and Non High Definition Televisions that there isn't a huge difference or is there are a huger difference on High Definition Televisions?
Well I just did some looking up on this Scart cable you're referring to. Do they even sell them anywhere anymore? Are televisions even able to use them anymore?
And how do these Scart cables compare to Component Cables.
By the way, I asked this before, but just to clarify. The component cables that came with the Xbox360 are just as good as any for sale in stores right?

They're good.
I only got crazy ones because I had an delay, but the original cables are still good.
There is a big difference using components on both TV's. Using components on an non HD TV is similiar to the difference of having DVD quailty picture to regular cable. But for games, its a much bigger difference.
SCART has been a superior standard for a long time (i.e. before HD arrved) but is more a European thing. I have scart cables for my Wii as well as component- really for use when I move the WIi elsewhere, because only digital televisions tend to have component here and most of my friends whose houses I would bring it to are analogue.
You can be fairly confident that any decent cabling type is better than composite, non-HD or otherwise. I would say on a non-HD tv, SCART cable quality is identical to component.
I should also mention that I don't think the Wii is best served by HD.

What has been, 10 yearsa go?
Using the totally revolutionizing Quake 2 engine.
I wouldnt be surpraised if the developers made the game, didnt like it, scrapped it, then made it again, then didnt like it, scrapped it, then realized thier engine is 3 years out of date, made a new game, graphics were shit because of the engine again, and then finally making the new game.
I dont care how long it takes, alteast when they release it, make sure its not as buggy as Stalker, another vapourware game...thats not anymore.
It also doesnt help if the gameplay is 5 years out of date now. Kinda like TF2.
