"I wanna wii!"

"Uhh...was that...you want a nintendo, or you need to go to the toilet?"

Do they have a backwards compatible control? I cant see myself playing FPS comfortably with a remote control shaped thing.

Actually, I think they will be bringing another controller out for the Wii.

Fat chance. Nintendo is emphasizing that the "i"s in the name symbolize the controllers as well as people. "Remote Controllers" are here to stay.

Wii?

Won't that be "Wiimote Controllers?" now?

Quit the bickering, it's a damn name, people are going to continue to refer to it as Revolution at least for a while as they get used to the new name...and if they really are set on continuing to call it Revolution, well, they're not hurting anyone, so I really don't see the big deal. It's just a name, and is about the least relevant thing when it comes to something like this.

Well put. 👆

If I want to call it "Revolution", as everybody has gotten used to, it's completely in my right to. It's not being 'stupid,' as AC said, when this name has been around for what, a year now?

Wii sucks. I'll stick with Revolution.

AC, I don't know why you take it so personally. It isn't harming you in any way (besides, maybe, it opposes your fanboy attitude), so get over it. I'll call it what I want, and that's the end of it.

EDIT: And, to clear things up, I'll probably still get one somewhere down the road. It's not the system I dislike; it's the name. 😉

Reminds me of the Game Cube that was almost called the "Project Dolphin" or something of the likes?

Ok, from what I understand wii is supposed to be like "Oh yea!". you know like the Kool-aid guy.

I can't wait to pre-order it:
"May I help you?"
"Yes, I'd like to pre-order the Nintendo WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!"

or:
"Yes, I'd like to pre-order the Nintendo OH YEA!"

It is your right, but it's also stupid. Whether you are willing to admit that or not, it is. Calling something an incorrect name (because rest assured, calling it the Revolution is now incorrect) purely because you dislike it's new one is a stupid thing to do. It's ignorance, quite simply, and ignorance is inexcusable in any matter.

I'm not taking it personally either, I'm just debating your logic, that's as much my right as you calling it the Revolution. I'd say the same (and do) for anything similar. It's called something, that something is "Wii". Calling it anything else is stupid. I'd say the same for any console, any item in any medium.

The funniest part is how you act like it's some hard, arduous task to call it a one syllable word. "I've been calling it Revolution for a year", so? I have been calling it that since they named it. Do you see me, or anyone else, having remarkable trouble calling it "Wii"?

The bottom line though, to be pinpoint relevant, is this: If you like the system, why the hell does it matter what THEY call it? You're acting as if it being called Wii is somehow detrimental to the system.

The standard GC controllers can be used with the Wii

Wrong...they will have controls reminiscent of GC controls that connect to the wand control

Yeah being able to play past games is awesome! Like the past Zelda's mmm 🙂

It's stupid "Whether I'm willing to admit it or not"? That's your opinion. I don't need to admit to your opinion.

Wii is stupid, whether you admit it or not.

It's not that calling Wii is hard (hopefully, you're being sarcastic about this. Obviously, it's not a strain to say), but I've come accustomed to Revolution. Wii sucks; Revolution is better. I'll stick with Revolution.

This decision is harming you in no personal way, shape or form. You don't need to insult and attack anyone that doesn't agree with you or says something negative about the Nintendo.

They made a dumb decision. End of story.

It's stupid, not because I say so. I just happen to be saying that it is. How can you logically and realistically claim that it's not stupid to call something an incorrect name in the face of knowing that it's incorrect? Genuine question. It doesn't matter what it was called before, what matters is what it's called now. That's not The Revolution, so tell me, why do you call it that? Predicted answer: "Because I want to." Time saving reply: Why do you want to?

Wii isn't an objectively stupid name, clearly. It's a name you dislike. That is factually subjective. Calling it The Revolution IS stupid for the very clear reason that...well...that's not it's name. What's so hard to grasp there? Really. Ignorance is stupid, hence why it's ignorance. That is what you're displaying here.

They made a dumb decision...to you. Whether YOU like it or not, that decision is made. Call it whatever you want, but factually- if the name is kept- it will always be known as Wii. As BackFire correctly pointed out, no amount of calling it anything else will change that. So again, your actions are illogical. The problem here commonly is that anyone who has their views challenged automatically revert to "Why are you taking it personally?"/"Why are you insulting me?" I'm not taking it personally and I'm not insulting you. I called your logic and actions stupid, because they are and I have proven why. You're not providing any good reason why you should call it The Revolution beyond "I want to. I like it better."

So without the desperate and unneeded retorts of "You're defending Nintendo" or such, all you have to do is explain to me why you are doing what you are. Simple, civil request.

Actually no.

Gamespot did a feature on it, and the Wii has ports for the standard GC controller.

Unless Gamespot is wrong, then yeah, I'm right.

I would send you the link, but its currently not working.
Its under Features, and it says Revolution: What We Know

Actually, the name doesnt sound bad when you put "the Wii".

EDIT: http://www.gamespot.com/features/6146540/

Nintendo Revolution sounds a lot more fun to play than playing a Nintendo Wii. Its the same console admittedly and it should be judged on that but Revolution sounded fresh and exciting and actually would have been the stand-out console because of the name among generic formats like "Playstation 3" and "X-Box 360".

But Wii? Come on it means nothing to me, to the japanese it means something good but to me and a hell of a lot of others it sounds like slang for going to the toilet. Thats not even the main issue because aside from that its just a plain, boring name for a games console and if you're not the giggling type you'll still go WTF?

That's more childish than calling it "Wii" in the first place, which isn't actually childish at all.

Nintendo didn't make a dumb decision, people are making dumb interpretations it seems.

Nintendo has everybody talking about the Wii.

I'd hardly call them stupid.

Yes, you are right in the sense its got everyone talking about it i.e. the name, but so far no real concern over what games are being made for it, or how the console will compete with the PS3.

That is quite stupid because the games matter more than the name and it seems trying to be clever with the name has overshadowed the important issues.
